The question to me is why does anyone go to Dubai and get upset when they enforce their rules. No Alcohol and no sex.

I don't even now why anyone bothers going to any of those places when there are many other beautiful places around the world u can go.
For sure. How on earth are they going to "sell" Dubai to the West when they don't respect our customs??!! Fine, it's their country. But if they want us to visit them, they should smarten the fuck up and stop screwing us around. Otherwise, they can take their little place and shove it while Westerners visit more accomodating parts of the world.
A lot of people go there to make tax-free money. Money talks. People will do weird things and go to strange places for money.
Dubai is an enigma. The UAE is a strict Islamic state, yet partying, prostiution and boozing are commonplace. Many Westerners frequent it for business and pleasure. There are tons of Eastern European and Russian escorts there to service everyone, including state and govt officials. Fucking hypocrites.
But I agree, why go to Dubai when there are tons of better places around the world for frolickng? I have a personal rule, I don't travel anywhere that doesn't respect individual rights and freedoms. So no Chinese or Cuban trips for me.

With so many beautiful places in the world why on earth does anyone want to go to a flat, hotter than Hell spot on the shore of the Persian Gulf with no architecture to speak of unless you like modern high rises and artificial islands created in strange shapes.
Most foreigners go to Dubai to work. Fillipino housekeepers and nannys. Fillipino construction workers to build the world's tallest building. Native Dubaians don't work. Westerners go there because the salary is double what they make in the U.S. and is tax-free.
I had a friend who worked in Kuwait as an Engineer. He said the same thing. He said initially the Kuwaitis wanted him to run everything past them as only they could make the decisions, however, they were quite incompetent and lazy. After a while, they just told him to handle it as they really didn't want to work anyway.
Maybe too they know how to protect their country better. USA talks tough-acts tough (think border guards) but then gets caught with its pants down. Airport Security seems to be a joke once again--only thing nothing has happen was due to luck. In New Jersey it was 90 mins later before they knew somebody broke past security..have they yet a week later even know who he was-don't believe so. Good thing he wasn't carrying a bomb but giving a gal another kiss goodbye.
Easier to protect (and control) a country that is a dictatorship than a free and open society like the U.S. Just ask the PRC.
