Ok, so I'm in my mid 40's. So are most of my friends - male and female.
I was having a conversation with a female friend of mine last week and she was saying that her sex drive is way down. She no longer is near as horny as she used to be.
To make matters worse - she no longer cums as easily as she used to. (She used to always cum with intercourse.)
Anyway, I was a little taken aback. She is also not happy about her decreased libido, but seems to be resigned to "it's the way it goes". Her theory is that she is closing in on menopause and as such it's only natural for a woman's sex drive to decrease. From an evolutionary stand point, sex is for procreation, nature doesn't allow older women to bear children, so their sex drive naturally falls off.
This woman and I have known each other for a long time (20 + years and never done the deed). We have always had a very open relationship where we can both discuss sex - our experiences, what we like, etc, etc. She's always been fairly sexual in my eyes, but not as driven as other women I've known I'd say.
But still, I am surprised.
She said that it all started when she turned 44, that she noticed a drop off in her libidio (and a substantial drop off at that).
She has been dating the same guy for 8 or 9 years (the live together - no kids), fairly comfortable, he's a decent enough guy. Both are working professionals. He is feeling insecure about the whole thing - that he doesn't do it for her, etc. (I feel for the guy.) Their relationship is on solid enough ground.
She claims that she's still in love with him, that the problem is hers and it's only to be expected and it is natural.
I'm taken aback and frankly I don't have the experience to say whether this is indeed the case or not as I'm the same age as her and looking back - all the women I've known have been fairly horny and into sex. (But I'm basing my experience with women who were in their 30's.) I've only dated one older woman - who was in her 50's a couple a years ago and this woman (call her R) was unstopable. She was kinky as hell - and we had several 3-somes together and she loved cock and would cum all the time. So this flies in the face of what my friend said last week.
However, my one experience with an older woman (relative to my age) is obviously somewhat limited.
So my question to the peanut gallery - specifically those guys who are mid 40's and up:
Have you noticed your partner's sex drive decreasing after the age of mid 40's???
Now obviously shitty relationships are a bad basis of comparison. I'm more interested in normal / good relationships that sex was healthy all along (say 30's and into the 40's) but then dropped off as the female hit mid 40's.
I'm having a hard time thinking that this is the way that it is.
