As many of you know I am a diehard Arsenal fan and naturally I wanted France to win given the current and ex-arsenal players on their side. However France was shockingly bad. I can't believe a team with that much talent could be outplayed by muckers from Ireland. At the end of the game I felt truly sorry that Ireland didn't go through.France are back to their blatant cheating ways, a clear handball and they are in the WC, absolutely disgraceful on the ref's part. On a brighter note congrats to the Greeks, Slovenes for their shock results.
Let's not confuse France with ItalyFrance are back to their blatant cheating ways,
Vidal is playing in Germany for Bundesliga league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.Chile...Columbia...whatever
Just kidding...actually I became a fan of Chile at the U20 in Canada a couple
years ago when I watched a couple of their games. Can you provide an update of some Chile's players from that tourney, in particular Vidangossy and Vidal.
Yeah, what he said. I follow the South American qualifying very closely as it's the toughest of all the qualifying zones. I watched many of Chile's games and this team is good enough to win the whole thing.Vidal is playing in Germany for Bundesliga league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
He's been there since for two years now, and has made his way into the starting 11 this year. He is quite the talent at the age of 22.
As for Mathias Vidangossy seems like his best football years came at the Under 20 WC. His played dropped dramatically and his desire seemed to fade. He was loaned out to a second division team in Chile and was released not too long ago. Typical SA soccer talent, great ball skill, but no desire or motivation to work on the physical and mental side of the game.
Toselli had a few call ups for the National squad and is currently the #1 goalie at Universidad Catolica, (1st division league leaders). He's still very young for a goalkeeper only 21.
Some players from that under 20 squad have made quite the name for themselves:
Alexis Sanchez @ 21, proabably the most talented player from SA @ his age.
Playing for Udinese (Italy)
Gary Medel is a pitbull in the midfiels playing @ Boca Juniors
Carlos Carmona plays for Reggina (Italy)
Mauricio Isla (Udinese, Italy)
These four and Vidal are regulars in the National team squad that is on there way to South Africa.

If Arsenal can't get Frey, I'll take Lloris, any one but Alumnia for my beloved Arsenal. Also, he is only 22, hasn't peaked yet anhe will be around for at least another 13 years, get out the cheque book Wenger.Had it not been for the outstanding goalkeeping of Hugo Lloris, the Irish would have made black pudding out of the Frenchies.
He may be the greatest player in the universe, I just wish he'd walk the walk if he's going to continuously bash Serie A. He ducked out on his team-mates against Italy - the prospect of facing Chiellini didn't leave him brimming with joy. Now he says he'll personnaly bury Inter on the 24th...funny thing is he always develops breathing problems in crucial matches.
Thanks for the updateVidal is playing in Germany for Bundesliga league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

I just checked the qualifiers and they fininished 1 point behind WC favourites Brazil. I would say they have a chance.Yeah, what he said. What makes it the toughest is that other than Peru and Bolivia nobody is really a punching bag and anyone can beat anyone on any given day. It adds up to 8 competitive teams with only 4 direct spots to play for. Picture a European qualifying group with France, Germany, England, Holland, Sweden and Denmark!! Yikes CGI just checked the qualifiers and they fininished 1 point behind WC favourites Brazil. I would say they have a chance.
Let me know what makes SA the toughest. 4 or 5 of 10 make it. I guess if you are Bolivia, Venezuela or Peru I can see that. But every region has a doormat or two, (see Canada in CONCACAF). I always thought it was the easiest due to the fewest teams.
yes the refs and the linesmen screwed up, yes there should be instant replay in every single sport, we have the technology to get a decision right lets use it!!!I've heard enough of the Henry/Ireland thing the past few days to last me a lifetime. Yes it was a handball, but maybe the Gooner in me has a softer stance against Henry. His hand was already there and yes he did shift it further, but if he doesn't move his hand, it still hitting his hand. The impetus is on the ref/linesmen in my opinion. End of story for me.
I have no problems with Arsene's doings. Van Persie's injury is only magnified now because all the other strikers are out! There attacking formation is so interchangeable I dont think it will be that huge of a blow. Walcott is supposed to be back for tomorrows game v. Sunderland. But I am still keeping my fingers crossed that this horse placenta thing works!!
Also consider the fact that Argentina and Brazil are WC favourites every 4years plus Paraguay (Italy of SA) has been a shoe in for the last 4 WC.What makes it the toughest is that other than Peru and Bolivia nobody is really a punching bag and anyone can beat anyone on any given day. It adds up to 8 competitive teams with only 4 direct spots to play for. Picture a European qualifying group with France, Germany, England, Holland, Sweden and Denmark!! Yikes CG
Unfortunately, we're about 100 years past the point where we can ask such questions without sounding naive. In the early days of football, it was thought that cards and cautions wouldn't be required, since no gentleman would ever foul or simulate. I'd say we've reached the opposite end of that behaviour on the scale of expectation. It's so bad, that a large part of the football world can't even bring themselves to admit the obvious, that what Henry did was cheating. Look at Beckham, Trapattoni, even the Irish team for fucks sake, all absolving Henry to some degree. It's crazy. But where is the honour, the sportmanship, the world class from Henry.
Agree on the use of technology. I can't help myself to the following clipyes the refs and the linesmen screwed up, yes there should be instant replay in every single sport, we have the technology to get a decision right lets use it!!!
But where is the honour, the sportmanship, the world class from Henry. I recall in the late 90's a Liverpool-Arsenal match, David Seaman appears to bring down Robbie Fowler in the box, instead of acting with glee and joy the class act that Fowler is tries to convince the ref that it wasnt a penalty. Maybe Henry can take a page out of Robbie's book.
Can't compare Henry to GOD!Maybe Henry can take a page out of Robbie's book.
