Well, that was mostly before I started hooking and realized I could get laid and get paid for it.
But why CL? First, I'm a little anal about boundaries and stuff, and I've come to learn that the best way to avoid drama and complications is to avoid fishing in my regular social circles. The worst part of ending a relationship (whether a casual or more committed one) often has a lot to do with the collateral damage it causes (common friends, common spaces, common aquaintances, etc.). Meeting people from CL was a good option for me, especially when I was looking for something casual and drama-free.
People often assume that CL is full of loosers and/or desperate people. But for some reason, the same assumption isn't made about people who spend their week-end crawling bars and clubs for sex. I can't say that I've ever met anyone in a bar/club that I found interesting enough to exchange numbers with, but I have met a few really cool and fun people from CL, who have become really good friends.
I'm also very much a homebody and not a social butterfly. Even if no one ever believe me, I'm very shy, and I always feel awkward in a room with more than one stranger. I'm good with words and writing though, so, if I were to use an economic term, I guess CL gave me a "comparative advantage".
CL to me is a social space just like any other. Sure, there are a bunch of assholes there, but I see them almost everywhere I go, online or not. And at least on CL, they can't randomly grab my ass like they would in a club.
