Can Windows 7 be Installed on More Than 1 PC?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether Windows 7 can be installed on more than 1 PC.
I have a pre order copy of Windows 7 but don't want to use it yet if I'm restricted to only 1 machine.

I have a Windows XP disc from a computer I bought in 2002 and I've used that disk to install XP on about 5 different computers over the years and there's never been a problem.

The product key code was accepted for all 5 PC's and was able to activate and validate every system I installed the XP software on.

So, I'm just wondering if I'm going to be able to do the same with 7 or whether it's going to be more restrictive relative to XP.
Thanks for any info.

You admit violating the terms of the licensing agreement which you agreed to for Windows XP, and you come on here asking if you can get away with it again with a new product?

I don't think that is the questions. I recently purchased Microsoft Office and it permits me 5 installations on 5 different computers, through the Microsoft identity key.

I have the same question. We are getting a Microsoft Windows 7 upgrade. Will the identity key allow 1 upgrade or several (ie. 5 upgrades)?

It's a fair question.

when you get an operating system, by default, it is always 1 installation of that license. If you are legally allowed more than 1 installation, your sticker on the case with the serial number will say something like, "Windows XP Professional - 2 CPU". That means you can legally install it on 2 cpu's. If your sticker does not have a # of cpu's, legally, you are allowed 1 installation under that serial.

No, it means that you are legally entitled to install it on one Computer which has 2 CPUs installed in it.

You are presented with a license agreement to which you must agree before you install the software. If you are unable or unwilling to read it, you should not proceed.

If it helps, certain versions of Office allow you to install on one Desktop and one Laptop computer under the specific requirement that both not be used simultaneously.

And if you wish to transfer the license, you may only do so once every 90 days (if I recall correctly - again, refer to the license agreement you agreed to).

Windows 7 Loader v1.7.2 (x86 - x64)

Version 1.7.2
Latest - 1.7.2
Added encrypted SLIC support
Added random loader names
Added byte differences (everyones GRLDR loader won't be byte for byte the same)
Added a new GRLDR version (0.97) from zsmin (custom edition for my program)
Added /norestart argument
Added support for Windows 7 Home Basic (4 new keys)

Features
Maintain your own list of serials, future or current (comes with allot of preset keys)
Automatically finds an available drive letter (if required)
Installer and uninstaller built in as standard
Checks your Windows version and build before install
Automatically finds your active boot partition
Works on all languages
Works alongside hidden partitions
Works on Windows 7, Vista and Server 2008 editions
Support for bios modded users
Improves Windows 7 boot time on a Mac (Compared to other loaders)

What makes this different from every other loader out at the moment?
It's not a batch file and all commands are made within the application, it has great error handling and doesn't try to find the active partition based on size (which every other loader is doing at the moment).

So whats the advantages and why should you care?
With me building this loader as an application I can access system details and create declares for many of the functions. This means anyone that uses this loader should have a greater chance of success!

Whats the differences between each loader option?
Hover your mouse over each option to see

Ok so how do I run it?
Select the brand that best suits your system, if the brand isn't there don't worry as you can pick any and it should still work. All you have to do next is click the blue "Install" button and wait for the completed message.

I activated Windows 7 and now I want to activate Windows Vista, why isn't it working?
Use the uninstall option while on Windows 7 and reboot into Windows Vista. Next install your selected cert/slic in Windows Vista and then reboot back to Windows 7 and click install.

Activation failed, now what?
Try again with the beta or the older loader option enabled, one of them might just work for you.

Application integrity checking?
Hover your mouse over the green, amber or red icon towards the bottom right of the window to see the information.

I should note that even if the icon is green someone might have found a way around it so it's worth checking that the applications path is always the same as the location from where you launched the application. You should also check that the MD5 matches the MD5 found online.

** I have tested this on a virtual machine with a 100% success rate **

Changes since 1.6.4
1.6.5 -- Improved profile matchups (for matching a SLIC, certificate and serial)
1.6.5 -- Added activation checking for Windows 7, Vista and Server 2008
1.6.5 -- Added tokens checking for Windows 7 (alerts the user, repair is manual so that later on down the line this loader will never frankenbuild your system itself!)
1.6.5 -- Added error handling should UAC fail to elevate the application
1.6.5 -- Added Asus SLIC, certificate and Home Premium serial
1.6.5 -- Added new GRLDR beta 0.93 from zsmin
1.6.6 -- Fixed activation checking for non-english systems (This release is just to address confusion as to if a system is activated or not)
1.6.7 -- Fixed Windows Vista activation status
1.6.7 -- Added Windows 7 Enterprise editions as a supported OS, although you will need to wait for OEM SLP keys to leak
1.6.8 -- Added application integrity checking. This is a new feature which will display you with information about how the application was launched when the mouse is hovered over the green or red icon. It's goal is to inform you if you are running an untouched version of the application or one that could have been modified in some way by a script kiddie. Of course green is the best result, if it's red then be cautious as someone's likely binded a trojan!
1.6.9 -- Added amber as a color to the application integrity checking as well as a few tweaks to the existing code (you should still always check the displayed application path even when green)
1.6.9 -- Cleaned up some code for better performance
1.6.9 -- Added new GRLDR 0.94 from zsmin
1.7.0 -- Removed the older loader
1.7.0 -- Added loader mode options
1.7.0 -- Changed the UI so that it's now slightly transparent as well as resized to suit the new options
1.7.0 -- Added Samsung support for Windows 7 Ultimate, Professional & Home Premium editions
1.7.0 -- Improved internal resources security
1.7.1 -- Removed window transparency to fix a Windows 7 artifacts bug and improve responsiveness on older systems using onboard graphics
1.7.1 -- Improved the "Custom menu.lst" loader option. It will now show all people using this setting the GRUB menu at system startup
1.7.1 -- Upgraded some certificates to version 2.1
1.7.1 -- Added a new GRLDR version (0.96) from zsmin (custom edition for my program)
1.7.1 -- Added external SLIC support (read "How to add support.txt" for more info)
1.7.1 -- Added support for BenQ and Sony machines
1.7.1 -- Added support for Windows 7 Starter Edition
1.7.1 -- Added various new OEM SLP serials

Latest - 1.7.2
Added encrypted SLIC support

Added a new GRLDR version (0.97) from zsmin (custom edition for my program)
