We should all pray the case goes the ladies way...it could really open up the business and help many women and even men (by having more to pick from).

Hats off to these gals and best of luck to them. We can only hope this unfair law or laws are struck down by the court.

You go girls. And if there's a way to contribute to their legal fund, I hope someone posts how.

But, I think they have a steep uphill battle with the chips stacked against them. The current situation allows the government, and by extension society, to say they haven't outlawed prostitution, but just everything connected with it. A perfect hypocritical Canadian solution! They won't want to rock that boat. Which government would ever want to risk being known as the one that allowed Canada to become a sex tourism destination on their watch! It would take guts to lead on this issue, so it goes without saying that none of our political parties will step up on this one.

How much you wanna bet Osgoode Hall law professor Alan Young has a Terb handle??!! :D
If he does great, because he'll read it when I say YOU ROCK!!

Seriously can we just get him to write a full set of legal reforms and MAKE parliament pass it? They'll be good I'm sure.

Three to four years if it goes all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada.
And how long (roughly) before its passed through Provincial court?? 2 Years or so??

If they do legalize you can bet it'll come with heavy restrictions and need for permits, licenses...etc

Well how I understand it, outcalls were even illegal but somebody challenge the law and the supreme court of Canada officially made outcalls legal in the 1990's I believe. (may have been going on way before the ruling but it was still a good thing somebody took the issue to the highest court).

If nobody tried to take on the government were would any of us be / oh yeah, just look at China :(

Be careful what you wish for. Getting rid of existing laws could create many more problems.

If street walking was legalized, how many of you would like to see working girls at the end of your driveway? How many of you would tolerate guys propositioning your wives, daughters, sisters or mothers every time she steps out of the house? How many of you would want to clean the used condoms, needles and broken crack pipes from your back door or garage?

And if the living off the avails is thrown out, what do you do with the parasites that "help" girls as they get off the bus, only to turn them into sex slaves and forced into prostitution?

The law as it stands is not perfect and it clearly needs to be rewritten. But to just throw it out would create more problems than it solves.

City bylaws could stop S.W. from working where ever they pleased.

I think if S.W. was legal more gals would speak up to report abuse by a pimp.

If the sex trade was more open and LEGAL, maybe the image would change.

Stripping is legal but are there guys looking to hire gals getting of the buses to work at the local strip club, none I ever seen.

If the laws get throw out don't worry, the ruling would be appealed and new laws written up in case the appeal failed.

Its not good the way it is now, some places the police turn a blind eye only to then crack down on a few people who they feel like picking on. Women are scare to contact the police to report abuse for fear of being arrested themselves.

Nothing is going to change unless people push for changes.
