ADMIN - Reverse the change to send PMs!!!!

This new feature pisses me off!

Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.

After PMing for years, you change the sent items default and many of my PMs are missing.

Why can't you let the user decide if they want this default setting?

Please reconsider, or at least put up a poll to gauge our feelings about it.

TERB is a pretty big board with many users and very likely, an active PM group. Saving all the PMs takes stoarge space which undoubtedly takes money.

Remember that TERB is free. What we want and what we get don't necessarily need to co-incide. If changing the default of PMs keeps TERB free, it's a good thing for all of us. I for one would hate to see TERB turn into a paid for by members board as I think we'd lose an awful lot of contributors to our little community.

If it is a huge issue for you. Add yourself into the send to line and it will send you a copy that you can store, move, download... Whatever.

I agree with everything stated, BUT this is The Lounge and I'm excersizing my right to complain. If nothing is said....nothing is improved. Letting terb make any damn changes they want isn't any better than letting the government do the same thing.

BTW, terb is not free to the advertisers and this has affected them as well. ;)

Not a huge issue hunter, I just get pissed when customer service takes a back seat to user friendly features. Reverse billing works for companies too, but it's a pain in the ass!

Understand both sides. Nobody wants stuff taken away but I can see the cost too.

I love the idea of sent messages not being automatically saved. Is your memory that short Magic that you can't remember what you sent? :p

Previously I would always take the check mark off saving the sent messages anyways... it only clogged up the system.

Is there not a way for the saved messages to be deleted after a set period of time, say a month? You can always save them to your hard drive.

There really should be a big flashing sign that alerts everyone that their sent messages are no longer being saved. I wouldn't have known had I not read this thread... :(

I'd rather get rid of all the silly, oversized pictures people are attaching to their posts. At least saving messages serves a purpose.

The cost to store 1,000 PMs per poster, and have a system user list, and a few things like that would have to be tiny. Next time you buy a hard drive, go one size bigger, and you have covered the capacity required for the next 100 years. I would be prepared to spend $100 or so for the upgrade, there must be a few other members who would contribute if it could permanently end these minor annoyances.

I like having it saved. In some cases I like to have my original copy of things for various reasons. I can also use the Sent folder for quick access to the same User's Profile from which I can send further messages, or check if they've been online to receive the message.

It's easy enough to immediately delete sent items right away if you don't want them.

But the main point is default's shouldn't be changed without an announcment. I kept re-sending the same message to somebody because I didn't see it in the Sent folder and thought there was a glitch.

Disappearing sent messages

Drove me nuts earlier this week. One person I was PM'ing must have received 5 or 6 copies of one message. Glad they had a sense of humor.

This board doesn't cost you a nickel to join.. get over it. When's the last time a dictatorship gave notice to it's citizens? :p

I guess people who want the feature back are just not smart enough to figure out that the need to check the box (Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.) to save sent PM's, or they just can't be bothered.

Smart enough has nothing to do with it Papi. It's easier for someone to check the box ONCE to change the default if they don't want them saved (as Calloway stated he did). That's easier than having to remember to check the freakin box EVERY time you send a pm.
As I said before it's the same as reverse billing, it's a pain in the ass!
