[Updated, 11:15 p.m. ET] Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in a mansion outside the Pakistani capital of Islamabad along with other family members, a senior U.S. official tells CNN.
Congressional and administration sources say U.S. officials have the body of bin Laden. Further details around his death were not immediately available.
Bin Laden was the leader of al Qaeda, the terrorist network behind the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.
U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to address the nation shortly.

Bush Sr won the war and still lost the 2nd term. I doubt Bin Laden's head
would help the Obama presidency to survive the faltering US economy.
America has felt like a different country since 9/11.It's been an angrier country.I'm sure the dangers are still there but history will show Obama was the commander in chief when the thorn got taken out of the angry lions paw.alot of Americans will feel some sense of justice and relief tonight.

Agreed, this won't help BO, he's dug too deep a hole for himself and it's too long until the election to save his sorry ass.
If I was an American right now ,and knew how much money was poured into Pakistan for the "war on terror".....and now knew they found my blood enemy in of all place's ......a mansion just outside their capital city.I'd be putting a stop payment on all future cheques.I suspect Pakistan is going to lose some powerful allies as this whole scenario fleshes itself out.
We'll see how this plays out but yeah, that's one scenario....
I do give the POTUS credit for sending troops in to take care of business.....
