Ignore Ripper and read up on various threads here -- he's paranoid about DATY and tries to scare everyone with his "warnings".

There is risk to DATY, but there is risk to all services. Hell, an MP could have a non-visible wart on her hand while giving you a covered HJ and pass on the warts!

Near as I can tell from much reading, DATY and DFK are roughly comparable risks, with BBBJ providing a slightly higher risk to the SP. Others will tell you differently, so you'll have to do some research and come to your own conclusions.

Just make sure you decide based on reasonable information instead of based on what you want to be the truth.

well you can just cut the end off a concom and then use the square thats left, some places sell protectors too... thats if you want to be really safe.

One of the easiest diseases out there to catch is herpes.
Not too many know what the hell herpes is. It's quite simple!
If a man has the herpes virus in his mouth and performs oral sex on you, figure it out. And of course if the lady has oral herpes and performs oral sex on a man, figure it out. If a man has genital herpes which can at times be barely noticeable if you don't know what you're looking for, if he has sex unprotected, figure it out. Same goes for a woman. Many people who have herpes don't even know they have it. Even if this does scare you, it can be mistaken for even a shaving rash. Signs can be very subtle. And guys, I'm not talking about the common cold sore. I suggest everyone does their research. You can catch herpes from simply rubbing your pelvic area against someone else's who has the virus. I hope that made sense.

Herpes can be spread even when the carrier is not having an outbreak. A lot of people have herpes. You guys crack me up with your proclamations of safety...it's like you're trying to convince yourselves it's safe. The bottom line is, if a girl has herpes and you go down on her, you have a very good chance of getting it. Remember, she may have no visible signs of the disease - she doesn't need to - you can still very easily catch the disease.

My ex GF had herpes when were together for 8 years. We did everything you could put an acronym to and then some. I am herpes free. Simple honesty protected me. When she was having an episode she told me, plus she was so uncomfortable when the episodes came (infrequently) I probably couldn't touch her anyway.

you're a lucky person, PackRat...it may not happen every time, but you CAN get herpes in between outbreaks.

You're neglecting the fact that you can get Herpes SII even if wearing a condom. It's a skin-skin transmission, not a body fluid transmission.

Those 'nads many of you like to treat to BLS are as much at risk of Herpes transmission as if you'd gone for a full BBBJ.

If you are all going to get paranoid about might and could, go do some reading. There is as much paranoid misinformation here as there is misinformation about how "safe" certain activities are. Stop getting info from your friends and rumours, and start doing a little reading. Better yet, ask your freakin' doctor!

groo39...you're absolutely right that you can get herpes from BLS, or basically any kind of contact with anything down there. Not trying to scare everyone. It comes down to personal choice in what risks you're willing to take. But, if you're willing to take the risk that's fine, but don't try to diminish the face that serious risks exist. Personally, that's why I don't see SP's, and prefer to fark my wife. But my wife likes sex, and she's kinkier than me, so It's easy for me to say.
