Nu Den in Ottawa

Had my first trip to Ottawa a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by this club. Nice atmosphere...women were decent to good...though I hesitate to rate any a 10.

Unfortunately had a severe lack of funds so no private encounters, but that didn't stop almost every dancer from asking. None seemed offended at my refusal, either, which was a nice change from the Mississauga/Brampton Trinity.

Question, though, are there any other clubs in Ottawa not in the downtown core? Anything near the airport?

The Closest SC's to the Airport are Cabaret Canada on Bank St. & the Silver Dollar on Merivale Rd. The Dollar would be the better choice.

Saying the Silver Dollar is a better choice than Cabaret Canada is sort of like saying you would prefer to be executed rather than killed by a firing squad.
True but he has a better chance of finding something half decent at the Dollar. Those are the only SC's near the airport.

The Silver Dollar is a classic, if you tried to renovate or improve it you would lose the great mysteque and unique class that the dollar is in.
The only other place that was close was Valentino's!!! :( R.I.P. we all miss it dearly!!

Whats good/bad about the Cabaret Canada?? I ve never wandered into it...YET??

A strip join is a strip joint... some high class some medium and low..

Low class you might get the bouncer is also the DJ (montreal has many of those) ... a few dancers.... raw tables.. LOL!

If you think that the Cabaret Canada is low... you haven't gone to the Karina's pub in Casselman!!! LMAO!!!!

In terms of scraping the barrel, many find the 61 in Aylmer to be the bottom of the pile...personally, I find it has charms mainly of friendly girls who give good mpg (they work for their money).

What do you mean by 'raw tables'.

I've never been to Karina's...description please
61 is Aylmer is not bad.. I have seen alot worse.

Raw tables.. hmm.. not clean.. gum stuck on the bottom..or.. other glued substances..

How can I describe Karinas.. hmm.. It looks like an old Tavern that was switched over to a strip joint.. but with minimal budget. 70's type of setting.. with very minimal dancers.. older ladies or drunk young ones.. I think that the bartender (lady) is also a dancer... plus the waitresses.. pool tables... not much variety of beers..

Not to bad if you live close.

I remember going to SC that became Valentino's after the renovations. The washrooms were amazing. The one and only time I was there they had large drums for urinals. So you had to piss into this. When I went in there the drums were overflowing and there was piss all over the floor. Always wondered how they were allowed to stay open.

Valentinos was a wonderful change. I hate to think of how many afternoons and how much money I spent in that place. I could have retired by now.

it was the vendom and spot 889 (the address) before Frank bough it and taking on the Valentinos brand. I worked there towards the end of the run, as dj, bouncer and eventually weekend manager. Good times at Valentino's, especially when the "all star" hotel moved from Hull to above the club, ah the eighties :)

I think that a new place should open with a new generation of dancers...
Ones that like their job, are not on drugs, and actually care about the customer!

Hahahaha... never in this life time... but still worth thinking about!

I have to vent every $2000 or so...

So do DJ's, Bouncers and managers get any "Benefits" at the club?

So which of you guys remembers habba babba's?

I used to go there for beers at lunch time in grade 13.

Ahh, good memories.

It was on Wellington I think, or Richmond. It was great.

Habba Babba's was on Richmond Road in Westboro, in the basement of what was then a decent restaurant and is today a very decent restaurant. Its a block or so east of Churchill on the north side. The place was owed by Doug Seymour, who was an Ottawa Rough Rider at the time. I happened to be there for Val Belchers going away party when he got traded.

It was hubba bubba's and it was on Richmond. I remember seeing one of the girls there making one of the old "stubby" beer bottles disappear....completely!

Nope clubs are not the same. In those days most girls really used to get enthusiastic about their show on the stage and really danced well. Now most get on and just move around holding the pole and seem to run off stage even before the song has ended.

As for staff benefits that's for me to know and you to imagine... lets just say I was young and foolish back then, what a great time!

Mustang, good to see you back!

Hubba Babbas was the worst example of city zoning, they shared a parking lot with a CHURCH ! Yes a church, back then strip clubs couldn't open on Sundays so I guess it balanced out. LOL It was a bit of a dive but great talent at times, they jumped the shark when they introduced the shower shows that none of the dancers wanted to do. Lots of fun times at Habba babbas, this is turning out to be a fun retrospective thread... :)
