It depends what you want to do with it?Someone was telling me that they're faster and the remote is blue tooth so you don't need to point them at the device. I was under the impression that android boxes have better capabilities.
Thanks for the links will check them out, I have an older mygica that has android 4.4 and it can't be updated, mygica made a kodi 17 that would fit on 4.4 but I'm thinking of getting a new box. My box still has 4 cpu and 8 x gpu. The guy told me that with firestick he doesn't use kodi anymore and that its old software. Firestcik supposed to have something better. I try to get sport addons and live tv and movies although movies I can get with torrent. I was eyeballing a x96 mini box that factory direct had on sale for $39 and apparently can handly iptv which I found at the flee market for 20 bucks a month (but didn't buy yet, I'm on a budget so I have to watch it)It depends what you want to do with it?
Bluetooth can be had on both devices.
Most content is the same once you have kodi installed.

In terms of better capabilites, android boxes are not all the same some have better hardware than others.
You have to do your research to determine what you want and what the market offers.
Generally speaking, some things to look for is 4k support, wifi, bluetooth latest android version and general support from the community or manufacturer.
It really depends how far you want to go down the rabbit hole.
Do you want to pay for an IPTV provider?
Do you want storage space for offline movies or TV shows?
Does it need to be portable?
What is your budget?
Another option is building an htpc.

I like firesticks, have bought 6 of them and given some of them to family. I build an HTPC box a few years ago and dont use anymore. Firestick is easy, remote is great with voice, cheap if you buy it on Prime Day, gets updated regularly, allows you to install VPN, gives you access to Kodi, DAZN, Prime, Netflix, IPTV provider, great support (YouTube). I have not seen any downside, although I dont download anything. Thanks for the links will check them out, I have an older mygica that has android 4.4 and it can't be updated, mygica made a kodi 17 that would fit on 4.4 but I'm thinking of getting a new box. It uses mpv...I built a HTPC to but switched from Kodi to Stremio mostly for tv and movies
With a Firestick 4K ($69.99 on Amazon) you can also cast to it from your other devices...mobiles, tablets, PC, etc.
Chromecast devices may not support some of your audio/video formats.
!
Check out YouTube which has many helpful videos on how to do just about anything with Firestick, Kodi, et al.I just simply want to watch the paid app I have for dream t.v on my phone to my t.v as it has tons of channels. I don't need anything else.
Try this:Man, I just started a thread in section asking this similar to this. Maybe someone here can help me. I have credentials to a streaming t.v service called dream t.v. I can get in on my phone, but not my smart t.v. I even tried google chrome cast but its not supported. I was told I need one of these fire sticks. Once I get the fire stick, what's the next steps in the process. Do I need to get this kodi thing??? I just simply want to watch the paid app I have for dream t.v on my phone to my t.v as it has tons of channels. I don't need anything else.

I use an old Linux PC as a NAS, a Vero4K+ box running OSMC for my media player, and Yatse as a remote app on my mobile.
I am just about to switch from a Chromecast to Firestick4K on my non-smart TV, as the Chromecast does not support 5.1 DD.
...and the Chromecast is always sending a ton of data back to Google...just like every app from the Play Store.
Firestick will be on Amazon's Black Friday sale on Nov.24!
So I just got this today, and got it all set up. The only problem is, I'm getting the ever so dreaded "soap opera effect" when playing content on my fire stick. Doesn't know how to turn this off?
