Finally found something worth watching on Netflix. Bio of ZZ Top. Very low profile bunch of guys, considering their presence for so many decades. Nice to see and hear the interviews and get some of the back stories. For the fans.
And drummer Frank Beard is the only one without a beard.Interesting fact: Dusty Hill is the cousin of Hank “propane and propane accessories” Hill.
Nice to see him talking so much in the documentary. All three of them are leaders. He commandeered Billy into joining up with him and he told him about his buddy Dusty Hill, who would fit in. Dusty Hill was also quite the leader. His older brother commandeered Frank into joining his band. Nice to hear them talk about themselves. Frank was called "Rube" which made me wonder. In an interview he described himself as a "Rube"And drummer Frank Beard is the only one without a beard.
Billy Gibbons was a huge influence on guitarists like Darrell (Dimebag) Abbott and Southern "sludge" and Groove Metal.Saw them at Rama, awesome show. They played a set of Jimmie Hendrix stuff, and I didn't know why. Turns out they were friends with him, and Hendrix is quoted as saying that Billy Gibbons was the best guitarist he'd ever seen. And Gibbons still has it.
Mark Maron's WTF podcast has in it's collection a conversation with a gregarious Billy Gibbons.
