likely hydraulic oil from a broken or burst hose, to raise & lower the scraper. most ice machines are propane or natural gas now not diesel

Probably nothing, It's just 2 different companies making same machine.

"Zamboni" is the name of the guy who invented the ice resurfacing machine.

You *do* have to defend this kind of thing if you don't want to lose your trademark name, though.
If everyone calls an analgesic "aspirin" and facial tissues "kleenex" and plastic bandages "band-aids" then those companies lose their trademarks.
This happens all the time and companies fight it despite it often being a losing battle.

There is a reason no one does this with videotape or escalator or heroin anymore - they all lost those fights.

Amazing that it didn't explode if it was propane or natural gas fueled.The design of the "Olypmpia" with an enclosed cab allowed the operator to stay with the vehicle versus an open seat on the Zamboni, he would have been severely burned.
