Red House over yonder.
I want to start a discussion of the routes and methods members have adopted to actually travel into and through the TO metro area in the face of massve traffic jams and highway projects. It seems that the hobby has shifted toward more incalls and more suburban and uptown incall locations even as many of the major highways are paralyzed wth delays. The Prez motorcade recently left an hour early for a recent campagn rally only to arrive an hour late from impossible traffic on the DVP. I also noticed that GPS seems to love to suggest usng the 407 ETR where they charge $4.20 per camera shot plus tolls.

Highway 7, Steeles Ave., Bay St., and Woodbine have become my go to routes to try to arrive on time for meetings into and out of North York and Markham. It may be more useful to travel at 35 - 45 mph than to deal wth the chaos on the major highways. What routes have others found to travel to airport hotels when the QEW is impassable?

Maps will always suggest toll roads because toll roads are alway the least busy and therefore the fastest.

It's an option you can turn off in under settings -> navigation settings -> route options

I won't even go into Toronto for the hobby any more--I used to go to Etobicoke, Mississauga, even downtown Toronto all the time. There may be less choices here in Durham but the ladies I choose to see keep me happy.

I am on the west side of TO. I only try to go on weekends to see a lady close to TO. Only once did I venture to Downtown TO it was a weekday and after 7pm so I knew traffic would be light back then.

Now no matter where in the world you are traffic is bad, slow and people can't drive. GPS are a joke because they seem to want to take you by "paid store customers" as I like to call it.

Now taking transit in Canada can be very costly and time consuming. Unless the SP / MP is 200 meters from the train station I would then take train to avoid traffic.

I use to leave 3 hours before my flight to the airport. NOW I leave 4 hours before flying, although it should take me 40-45 mins but I give myself a 15 min buffer. Then the Airport shuttle bus can be late running,,, it happened to me before and missed my flight. Then there is security whether it's US or not it is time consuming. Then I hope the plane leaves on time.

Now in other countries But Canada/ US I don't worry about arriving at the airport because they are all serviced by trains or subway, rarely a delay.

If google say 35 mins give your self plus 30 mins if a weekday and time of day and take a book to read while you wait for your time. Give more time if during rush hour.

I come in from the west as well and have decreased my visits DT and rarely will hit Markham - usually stick to Burlington, Mississauga and Etobicoke. Try to do very early or very late sessions.

On this last trip when leaving TO to avoid the DVP and QEW I tried going all the way west from Markham on Highway 7 to where I knew I was west of 427 and the airport congestion. I took a road straight south from Brampton and still had to use the toll road. The QEW was backed up to the horizon.

So if you fly into the Island airport instead of driving in where is the easiest place to rent a car downtown?

Any SP who wants more clients should be close to a Subway/ GO train station. IF not close to a free or paid parking lot.

I think you are better off renting those bicycles on the street. Or Taxi to a subway stop. Have you seen the traffic by the Lakeshore or close to the Island Airport?

Whenever I come to Toronto I always take the GO train in from Burlington. Since I only see ladies who are in the downtown core.
Never fails, when the GO train gets along the DVP it's bumper to bumper traffic. Doesn't matter the day or time.

Don't rent a car downtown if it's a short stay, just use uber.

The GO train doesn't go anywhere near the DVP between Burlington and Toronto Union Station. The DVP is further east. That's the Gardiner Expressway/QEW you're seeing I would think. Still, it doesn't matter because everything is congested these days.

My new program has been to do a couple of outcalls to a downtown hotel and then to move to Markham to do incalls uptown and suburban. I wish there were better hotels in North York but I have not found one I like.

I wish I could just check in to downtown and just relax like the old days. But more crime downtown and the variety of incalls in the burbs has changed my thinking.
