With the revelations about priest abuse and false logic behind looting the Mid-East...years back, when she ripped up a pic of the Pope, decrying abuses of the Catholic church, and then her thing about the American anthem banned from her concerts during Gulf 1, she was dead on in both cases, IMHO.

What perplexes me is that in 1999 she was ordained as a priest in a splinter group of the Catholic Church, the Latin Tridentine Church. At which time she sincerely apologized for the "event" on Saturday Night Live.

Yes the church has over the past two thousand years done some really nasty stuff to alot of people Aboriginals in the New World, the sex abuse cases and so on but hmmmm you never hear about the good stuff the Chruch does, the defence of the poor and aiding their education. The helping of bringing down communism in Eastern Europe, people like Archbishop Romero in El Salvador and Mother Teresa in India, the assistance given to countless Jews by local priests during the Nazi geonicde, and so on, i am the kind of person that believes if you are gonna dig through the dirt and bring up things about a particular person or group of people, you have to bring it all up good and bad. thank you ranting and raving over now

Good point. For a while I had a job in social services and discovered something very surprising. The catholic church gets a lot of grieft about its stance on homosexuals and condoms yet the catholic church provides health care for more than 1/4 of the world's AIDS population! I was shocked! It almost made me go back to church, I'm still a little more conservative than they are
