What happens is Melky Cabrera & Aaron Guiel ride the pine. Sheff isn't going to be around until September at best and Abreu will occupy RF. Matsui is still about 10 days away and will get back in LF once he returns. Damon played today and is healthy. Abreu should get Giambi and A-Rod better looks at the plate. He changes the dynamic of their lineup even though his numbers are like recent years. new league, new power I think.

The Yanks take Abreu's whole contract off the Phillie's books, which is probably perfect for them to dip into the free agent market next season. Word is the Phils had to give Bobby 1.5 mill just to waive his no-trade clause.
No trade clauses... that's the joke. I can see why people get it in their contracts so that they could stay put if they feel like it, but it's still funny that most deals can't happen due to them. There should be a book on that.
I disagree you cant trade Abreu and Liddle for nothing....Its a gift to the Yankees has the best on base percentage in Baseball.Pat Gillick is an idiot,,and the Phillies should get no fans .
