Not sure if perhaps the tweet was referring to those two black boys who shot the 17 month old in a stroller in front of his mother because she failed to comply with their robbery demands for a few bucks.

certainly does raise the specter of emotion, anger and outrage.

but also, there is certainly some REAL TRUTH in the fact that young black men disproportionately do more shooting.

not racist....just a fact.

True, but if anyone brands it as some sort of racial trait they aren't thinking (and I'm not suggesting that you are doing that). There are no doubt real reasons why it is the case, and we need to discover what those are and address them. There is no genetic or racial predisposition to violence or anti-social behaviour.

Quite simply...a disproportionate number of fatherless boys....whom are not being instilled responsible values.

issues of violence...black or white....does not take a rocket scientist to ascertain the source!

Like it is a mystery or something, poverty is the reason. Address them? How? Welfare payments, food stamps, public education, Medicaid,(edit) Affirmative Action. The tools are in place, if you use it you can make it out and make something out of yourself. The problem is parents, they ended up fuck ups, so are the kids. And the problem is generational, you can't really force the kids when parents don't care. Not racial, but definitely subcultural trait.

PS Glad that TERB community is at it again, trying to resolve racial tendencies lol

Me, nor my Mom, nor TERB people, nor taxpayers, can solve the angry young man syndrome.

Families...yes Moms and Dads, will go a long way to bringing up responsible children.

SIMPLE.

Otherwise..the Big M deals with moi only and my immediate circle of RESPONSIBLE people.

What are you saying? That there's no cure -- or that we'd be OK if only the bad parents would teach their kids some responsibility?

It is not open to question that violent kids predominantly have parents who have no money and no sense of social responsibility. Kids with two well-off, loving, parents grow up violent much less frequently than kids with just one no-money, irresponsible, loveless, poor, parent.

But is there anyone here, really, who thinks giving "bad" parents more money, and educating them to respect the dignity of others, will make their kids less violent? There is no "cure" for a kid who cannot curb his ego, and cannot contain his craving for "respect".

The kid is violent, not because of what his parents have or don't have, or are taught /not taught. It's because of what his parents are.

When it comes to it, the only thing you can give your kids are your genes.

The only way we can stop bad parents from having violent kids is to make abortion easily and freely available.

The only way? I doubt it. Saying that there's only one way to stop it is no different from saying there's only one cause. There may be a lot of unwanted children who would not be here if abortion was more easily obtainable, but many of them may come from families where abortion is not seen as an option.
