If anyone has bothered to read a couple of my threads, I've said I'm trying to loose weight...And I am kinda...

In the summer, I used to wear 44 jeans, and had bought some 42s. They fit were a bit snug. I also used size 44 belts.

Now something to realize is I'm not a scale watcher, and what happens happens.

Come December, I realized "wow these 44s are really slack"..As in I could put both arms into the waist band while wearing them. And the 42s were sitting pretty comfortably too. As well, I had to replace both belts.

Now...I'm hitting the very last notch on both belts again! While I wear the 44s, they hang on me, and I'm thinking it's time to try some 40s.

But what came as a really big surprise was....I read a thread in the review section about how to dress for a visit. Some of the gents and ladies said they liked a suit. So I got thinking and got the last suit I bought. It was about 8 years ago for my niece's wedding...The jacket fit like a tent!! It used to be ever so slightly snug. Now the breasts overlap by 8"!!

So I went and grabbed the suit I had bought for my father's funeral, from about 17 years ago....And it pretty much fit!! It didn't fit properly over my arse, but it buttoned up and otherwise fit properly!!

But I still have an 18" neck...And for those that have met me, why know it's not a fat guy's neck...I have a relatively long thin neck.

Wow!!

Now for the damn it part....Rare occasion I do hop on the scale...My weight hasn't gone down!! I weigh as much as I did last year, despite fitting into smaller cloths and physically feeling better. That leaves me with a few options: A) the fat is migrating, b) I'm just replacing the lost weight with rocks in my head, c) the scale is fucked. (And no, I'm not doing weight training either, beyond what work provides me)

One way or another, that was a great inspiration for me to keep at it. Sure I'll never be in the shape that CG or HOF are in, but that doesn't mean I have to be in the shape I am in.

Just thought I'd share.

Congrats dave!

It sounds like you might be trading fat with muscle mass... and it is migrating to other parts of your body.

The same thing happened to me when I lost my weight... I had a suit that I basically had to give away! I wore it 2- 3 times when I started, and had to have it altered after I lost a bunch of weight and was able to wear for a Christmas function a couple years ago, but then the weight (and inches) kept coming off so I just gave that suit to my friend. I actually did that with all my clothes- Went from an XL shirt to medium, from a TIGHT 38 to a comfortable 32... had to replace just about everything in my wardrobe except for socks! LOL!

Might just try mixing things up a bit. Just got off the phone to the local rec complex and got their open pool hours, 9-10 most evenings. :D Now I just need swim attire...I wonder if they still make those long john style swim suits...And swimming is supposed to be good for asthma too...

That's impressive, Dave - keep it up!
You might find an exercise routine keeps depression at bay and helps you sleep as well.

Dave, I really happy to read this for you!

Just so you know, I'm not the epitomy of physical health. Gym 3x weekly, swim, lots of cardio, lots more cardio and more cardio, but I still have the family shape. LOL. Although, I know that I'm in much better health than my parents were, and I should be able to fornicate to a ripe old age. I'm stalky and have always been so, but also athletic. Now, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last Summer and had to get a CPAP. The doctor told me, lose 15 pounds and you won't need it. Don't drink and cut out sugar. Well, I lost more than what was required, and I don't need the CPAP any longer. There are so many things that we can work on to improve our health.

Keep up the great work man! Sex is the best exercise possible. It's like running 10K on your heart! Just pace yourself. LOL.

And here I thought I was getting enough excercise just pushing my luck.

Actually, I am walking just about8-10k each day. But with this being a more rural community, the sidewalks leave a bit to be desired at times. Though walking does allow me to 'sing'. If you think AJBS is bad you haven't heard BDKD. Probably why I prefer to walk at night.

And HOF there's no way I could keep up with your latter excercise regime.

Congratulations Dave your progress is inspiring. I also have been working on loosing some weight and only lost a little. Your example shows that it can be done when you put your mind to it.

Yeah the sex part also helps for sure, we all need more of that! Resolution is to have more athletic sex, more often. Before you know it we will look like CG.

Keep up the great work Dave.

That's amazing Dave...congrats.

Cycleguy, I have similar story as you. One of my best accomplishments last year was completing the Ride to Conquer Cancer (200km) I still have the ID cards and stickers on my bike :p
I was unable to participate in that ride due to a previously arranged family commitment... Maybe this year.

WOW Dave, Congrats!
Well I had told you that you had affected me in ways that you would never know...And this is just one of them. You may feel free to blush.

Well I don't know about that...Well more to the nature of me engaging in it. Sport Fucking is more HOF's area. I prefer things a little slower.

Living healthy is a mindset... It shows up in everything you do throughout your day... if you have that mindset, the results can be quite rewarding!

I don't think I can quite accomplish what you have, CG. And I's day I'm also heavier than where you started.

Now before someone says about me being negative in the above, realize that my stomach has been badly damaged. As a result, according to my doctor, a good protion of my "upper gut" is actually composed of structural fat that should be on the inside of my abdominal wall.(Go go sever hernias)(The fat starts with a P but I can't recall what it's proper term is). Because it's a "structural fat" rather than a "storage fat", it's a fat that we are supposed to have and thus the body will be less inclined to cannabalize it. Therefore I'll have to drop a lot of weight before I can make a change in it.

Of course he can be wrong...

I am walking just about8-10k each day.
If it's a brisk pace, walking 10k is the same aerobic value as running 10k - and it's much better on the knees.
Singing is probably good for your soul too!
Try mixing it up with upper body exercises as well, swimming or using a set of dumbbells would be good.
Take a break every few days to let your muscles recover.

I've had to slow down a bit the last couple of weeks due to the sidewalks being crap around here, and I've developed a really nice shin split too.

Singing is probably good for your soul too!
Well tha twould be questionable...Given it's the likes of Down With The Sickness, Don't Fear The Reaper, Slow Burn. And unlike Amanda's Juke Box Syndrome where she at least tries to sing it, Blank Dave's Kareoke Desease has me growling and hissing it out in a more spoken work version...I just wish I had a better metal voice, as mine's too high pitched and soft.

Take a break every few days to let your muscles recover.
That's one thing I don't do. But for me walking is natural and not overly taxing.
