Yet another totally ridiculous prosecution from the US because it involves *gasp* sex, *gasp* kids, and *gasp* the internet.

This woman was a quiet suburban housewife who took substitute teaching assignments. She's not particularly computer savvy.

In the 7th grade class she was monitoring, the kids used the classroom computer to view a hairstyling website. They then got re-directed to a porno site with infinitely looping pop-ups. She tried, in vain, to close all the windows.

She's already been convicted of distributing porn to minors, and she's appealing her case. The prosecution never bothered to examine the computer for spyware, and the school admitted that they let the firewall subscription lapse. No physical mouse clicks are necessary for the pop-ups, yet the prosecution claims that she intentionally clicked on all the porn.

So many people here, including the authorities, don't seem to be too computer-literate about what we've all experienced. WTF?!

It's been good to know ya
OH Jesh I am sure those children talk about sex in the school all the time and it is not like they do not have any idea of what they seen. Plus, I feel it is more the principals responsibility than the teachers to make sure everything is up to date. I love that one parents comment that she should have thrown a jacket over it I am sure she was thinking at the moment oh yeah a jacket that is the ticket. I am sure nobody would know how they would react to a situation unless they are in it themselves. It seems very unfair to me especially seeing as she did not have too much computer knowledge to begin with.

Maybe the administrators should be tossed in jail for allowing the computer to be operated with expired protection and putting the children in a potential unhealthy situtation as a result of their misconduct

Between a rock and a hard place
The monitor didnt have a power button?

I had a similar thing happen in my daughters grade 10 class last year. The business ed teacher had a "360-degree-Gay-Network" screen saver complete with hardcore porn images. The first time the screen saver initiated the kids noticed and asked the teacher to shut it off. No big deal. But then he allowed it to return. The timeout was set low because it kept coming back frequently. The administration dismissed it as an accident but anyone who hears the details can add two and two.

This teacher should have known how to shut the thing off.
