The committee who has investigated the case have come to the conclusion that Wolfowitch broke the rules. The committee report is not yet published.

This is not the United States, but European turf. According to the board's decision, "The United States will be allowed to choose a successor, so long as (war criminal) Wolfowitz steps down quickly." So much for Iraqi war funding now. Ironic the "safe green zone" Iraqi government is about to take an entire summer off at exactly the same time, while everyone blows everyone up in their constituencies. 'Cuz the cash ain't comin' anymo and the US Congress will continue dat by endin' da fundin' for da troops, except to bring 'em home and redeploy!

Like the man or hate him any honest onlooker has to admit that there is a certain irony to being hoisted on the petard of attempting to do the "right thing."

He sent that slush fund of money to Iraq to stash it, none of it ever gets to the troops, now he gets caught, is recommend to leave and the Iraqi Government takes off a season at the same time?

Oh did I mention Dick Cheney just made a hidden visit to Iraq too? Why not say he's going before he travels there? John McCain says its safe like a walk in the park. He's stashing the money through Halliburton into Dubai.

When the shoe fits, stick it in Wolfowitz' rear end!

The World Bank claims to help the poor, so long as those helping remain millionaires.

And, as someone who was brought in to root out corruption, the fact that he was promoting his girlfriend and getting her a big salary does seem to many of us as, at worst, improper.

What you've done is initially attack the man on one basis - nepotism, a charge that I don't believe can be justified. Then when that was questioned switched to a line of criticism that I think is justified but isn't what the hue and cry has been about.

They're trying to get rid of Wolfowitz because he lead a determined push to rid the bank of lending to governments without adequate follow-up, in other words, corruption. Even the poorest countries have access to the capital markets nowadays, so the only sector in which the WB has a competitive advantage in state-to-state lending. Much of this money is stolen, often with the complicity of wb staff, cause they just want loans to continue to made, in order to continue receiving their excellent salaries.

It is so sad how everybody hates the good neo conservatives. The liberal media, Hollywood, the World Bank employees. They never get a break.

Retirement would seem to be the work of a merciful God for poor Wolfowitch.
