This is a fairly big area of hobby. What kind of remote devices? Airplane, helicopter, remote vibrator?

Also is your interest playing with the device or building and playing?

build and play, sort of like a remote for your car to open up the doors, something like that, have a remote turn on a circuit, stuff like that

You can have fun with the IRobot vacumn system........there is a port you plug your PC into and you can program them ......and clean te house at the same time.....

They work great!

There are a wide variety of kits available. (The link, to a few kits available through Active Electronics, suggests but a few.)

For quick remote control fun, for $20 you can get a remote control switcher from home depot that will remotely turn on/off stuff. I used one to remotely lock my cat door at night.
