Wireless keeps cutting out

Is it true that your neighbours can easily 'tap" into your wireless? Apparently, this will give them access to your computer.

Some people in the past would simply use their router without adding any password security. If this is the case your neighbors or anyone driving by in a car can detect you have an unsecure available wireless network they can tap into and use for free. If they then download something questionable like 'child porn' it will show up to LE that your ISP is the culprit and they could come after you even though you never did anything wrong.
Bottom line make sure you install the latest WEP security on your wireless router.

Thanks Guys for all the info. I am password protected on the wireless using a "G" router. I think I'll try replacing the router and see what happens.

You could also try changing the router channel and rebooting your router.

have you changed the physical location of your router/computer? upgrading your firmware may help as well. changing channels as suggested is a good start. If you live in a condo, there's a very good chance you have some disruption caused by someone elses network/wireless devices.

Thanks again for all your help. It turns out the card in the computer was not working properly so I cahnged it out and all is good. I replaced the router but there was no effect. Funny thing is that when I was close to the router, the computer would pick up the signal. When I was far, I would get the connection for a few minutes, then it would cut out. Now I can get back to saving the world from the evil horde empire.
