Boasting about what exactly, that M$ may for the fist time in years have a fantastic mobile strategy... how is that boasting.... is your dick really so small that you're this easy to threaten.... try this, read, comprehend, think, respond.. you seem to be unable to accomplish the first two steps.

M$ is on the verge of passing everyone else by with a unified OS across computing and mobile platforms - Apple doesn't do that, the twelve geeks who run Linux can't do that, Google doesn't do that..... and M$ has the ultimate killer app - MS Office which all productive people outside the creative fields need to do real work. They will, I think, create a ARM tablet/touch compatible version of MS Office and the tablet will become the largest selling computer platform.....

Office will help MS gain ground. But I'm not too sure Windows Phone and Tablets will be similar to successes in the Windows era.

There's a lot of nice things happening with the leading mobile devices and tablets. Sandboxing, automatic save and resume, cloud services, long battery life, long standby time, instant on. Consumers love this features. MS has it right with Windows Phone.

But MS continues to say they want to use their legacy Windows OS on tablets. Windows wasn't built with this in mind. And I haven't seen concrete evidence to show they are retooling their OS to accommodate. I'm sure Windows 8 will be a runaway success with laptops. Tablets, not too sure.

I think it's fair to say it depends on the execution but now that Apple has proven both the model and the market it shouldn't be too difficult for M$ to deploy to a tablet.... if they get it right they will ring the cash bell.... if not, the port of MS Office to tablets will Apple all the money and help kill the notebook.

It's my understanding that Window 8 has been specificly created with Tablet computing in mind. I would guess it would be configurable to run on laptops and desktop machines also; plus tables using "attached" keyboards and mouses. How well Windows 8 would be on a smartphone is anyone's guess. But when you consider how powerful the chipsets are for upcoming phones and the amount of RAM available. Its possible that the only real difference between a tablet and a smartphone would be the size of the screen. After all, isn't an iPad just a iPhone with a big honking screen?

There was a lot of talk before the iPad keynote that it would run OS X. There was a reason why Apple choose to use iOS.

The link above I posted mentions no third party code on Windows 8 ARM. Looks like they're going full blown Metro there. First step in retooling their OS for the Post PC world?

Yes, they are going to take Apple's walled garden (or as Jobs called it, curated) approach to apps.... That said, MS Office on a tablet, that's going to be a huge hit.
