Facebook is launching a new program that they hope will make gmail obsolete. Will you switch?

I don't use either for email. I prefer the security of work e-mail.

Nope, I'll stick with what I've got. Facebook has security issues apparently. Rather than risk it, I'll continue to use my reg. email service, thx.

I think most gainfully-employed people over, let's say 25 (maybe 30), would be too embarrassed to use Facebook as their primary email address. Of course that may change over the years, as Gen W (Whiny) takes over the world.

I use Gmail. In my formative internet years I used Hotmail, but Gmail is way better.

I probably wouldn't use Facebook email unless there is some great new feature that Gmail doesn't already have (or cannot replicate), but I don't know what that could be. Maybe my vision is limited.

Like somebody else mentioned above, Facebook may be targetting a different audience than the common TERB member. TERB members understand more than most, the importance of anonymity. But when you consider that the millions of people who use Facebook have their entire lives plastered on their profiles for the world to see (photos, job, location, minute by minute status, etc), their new email offering might be readily adopted by those folks.

I've got one of each, Yahoo for work, Hotmail for personal stuff, both linked to my cell phone and Gmail for websites that ask for my email add. and for my Ebay account. I've also got a Facebook account and might as well get an email add. from them too for my Facebook friends.

Never mind anonymity. What about privacy and security? FB is already a treasure trove of personal information. Putting emails on there as well? Beyond scary.

Then again, I just shake my head at those people who put their lives on-line.

Google certainly isn't perfect, but facebook has a horrible record on privacy and security concerns; no way I'd go with facebook for primary E-mail.

Facebook deals with shady companion sites that offer misleading advertisements, heavy banners, and ads that constantly bait me into divulging my cel phone number to Jamster or Zjugo or whatever. I may have to abandon my gmail one day, like I did my hotmail, but I will never ever rely on Facebook for anything ... other than Zynga Poker.
