Not sure how much different the content will be with Shomi, but I don't think I will change. I also feel that Rogers and Bell have screwed me over so much, over the years, that I don't won't to give them anymore of my business. Screw this " Buy Canadian" crap !!!!

Really depends on the content Shomi delivers and the price and how much of it overlaps with NetFlix.

Saw that article too in the Sun about Shomi.

My friend has another service which starts with an 'H', and he can stream old series. Can't recall the name. We saw 1st episode of Blue Bloods (2010) a couple of months ago. He has a lot of other choices.

The only legit service with an H that I know of is Hulu, but that's only available in the US. You can access it through a VPN client, which will make it seem like your PC's in the US.

I would hope it's comparable to NetFlix, otherwise what's the point of competing with them? I anticipate they have every resolution up to 1080p, but they might have 4K content at some point too.

Gassed Netflix this past month in favour of popcorntime.
There are two versions: one at popcorntime.io and another updated one at time4popcorn.eu

Time4popcorn has a built in VPN lock which does not always work. I find movie and TV show selection on the original version much better. Great picture quality - 720p or 1080p in everything. Works like emule or other BitTorrent type programs except you only stream the videos - no downloading. Very user friendly.

Given Shomi only works with Rogers and Shaw internet, very unlikely.

They just don't get that people.are sick of the tied sales racket for cable service. They see all their services as additive.

Cut the cord. Kill them, or at least break their control over content.

I'm getting fed up with Netflix Canada. Does anyone know the codes for PlayStation3 to get an American feed?

Umm.. it's run by Rogers and Bell.
So, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say.. NO. No way in hell.

Nope. Netflix is more convenient for me. Have the app on my SmartTV, phone and ps3 plus it most likely will always have a better catalogue.

The main difference being that watching movies on Netflix is legal while popcorn time is theft. I used to download movies and music back when the studios were too stupid to offer content online. I used to say if they would sell the content to me I would buy it and only downloaded because I couldn't buy it.

Now that you can get most things legally at a reasonable price I avoid services that are really just theft.

There are a few good streaming internet android apps which allow me to select from thousands of free movies and TV shows. I notice that Google has removed Show Box (and maybe others) from the Play store but you can still get the app from the originators site.

I don't know the legal aspect of these sites - I just assume someone is paying royalties and donating the content to me. :D I live by the rule - never look a gift horse in the mouth.

I have a proxy service called ZENMATE that is a Chrome extension that used to work so that I could get Hulu. But now they can detect that!
Strangely, I can still get Pandora.....

Anybody have any ideas why it works on one but not the other?

It's more of a pain in the ass these days to download stuff through BitTorrent, etc. Even with a fast connection, you're still downloading for at least a few hours. The movie better be good to be tying up your computer and hydro for several hours. Also the hard drive space on your PC. On the other hand, there are still people out there that will horde music, movies, games (whether they are good or bad) and anything downloadable just because it's there and never use it. What a waste!
