by beating the Thrashers to claim its eleventh consecutive win and thus the longest winning streak of any NHL team so far??? No doubt, this game is the talk of the hockey world now. The dangerous Thrashers are no push overs, so far compiling a 7-1-3 record while the streaking Sabres are a perfect 10. It will be a good test for both teams. The good doc will give the cool and calm Sabres the winning edge although the up and coming Thrashers are very capable of stealing the show.

I hope Thrashers win, I hope though if the Sabres win, it's not by shootout though. The Sabres are awesome, and this is coming from someone who has always hated them. I'm hoping Lehtonen has one of those game stealing performances. :)

The only thing about the sabers and this record is they won two games in a shootout which would have been ties in the old NHL when the Leafs got this record.

This is a great record for the sabers but it should be a record for the new NHL.

But I say Thrashers tonight.

Possibly... but I hope not... I am anti-sabres... GO THRASHERS GO!...

By the way, has anyone ever noticed that Martin Biron (Sabre's Goalie) eyes look really scary? He looks like he's possessed by the devil... They say that "eyes are the windows to the soul"... he looks like he sold his soul (lol).

Go Thrashers Go... kick some Sabre a$$ 2nite.
Go Leafs Go... gotta support my hometown.
Wish the "All-star Colorado Avalanche Team" never went their seperate ways.

lol the Sabres better enjoy it while they have it because when their defense goes poof b/c of injuries they will cry...

Guys like Spacek, Numminen, Lydman and Talinder are all old injury prone players...No doubt they have game still as a team, but once two or more of these guys go down the team will fall...For example please see last years playoffs...The Sabres got ruined with injuries and came up short...So it may happen that way again this season...

true in your opinion. but, a win is a win as acknowledged by the nhl. the leafs record is and always will be monumental in it's time.

regardless. the sabres of today are still a much better team then the leafs of that era. a winning streak is only that. teams can go on unbeaten streaks and miss the playoffs, so it is not much more than a novelty in the record books, or for the Sabres, in that matter..

i think the sabres have something more important in mind for this season. besides the odds are stacked highly against them winning.

What a game!!! Ryan Miller is not the best goalie this game. The Atlanta goalie is. Some team (can one think Sabres again??? LOL!!!) some other season will have to break the NHL record of longest consecutive winning streak. As the good doc said elsewhere, the Sabres are not going to cry about not achieving this record. They simply move on with their motto, “one team, one goal” for the Stanley Cup.

No goalie in the NHL comes close to the skills of Martin Brodeur...That will remain the case until he retires...

LOL!!! Even if Martin Brodeur is the greatest goalie ever, he still has a lot of bad days. The recent game at Ottawa is a good one in which New Jersey was scored upon 8 times. Vermette's second goal chased Martin Brodeur from the net. Back to Ryan Miller, he let in a couple of goals which he should have saved. The Sabres will do better if Miller can be better.

I'm beginning to wonder about Brodeur... he has had quite a few bad games so far this season... and didn't impress me at all in the playoffs.

Your point is well taken. Injury is unfortunately part of the consequence of a very physical sport. The Sabres sacrifice size for speed and perhaps make them even more prone to injuries. Many observers will agree that the Sabres would have gone all the way to Stanley Cup Finals last season if it wasn't for the crippling injuries to four defensemen and the playmaker in Tim Connolly. Actually Tallinder could not play in this game because he broke his arm again. Roy and Hecht also suffer injuries during the game before but were able to play. Tim Connolly has not been able to play since he suffered the concussion last season. One wonders how much all these affect the Sabres' performance against the Thrashers. Would they have won if not for these injuries???

Really there is no such thing as having enough depth in this business. The Sabres had to spend $40,611,400.00 to keep the core group together. They still have some wiggle room come trade deadline to shore up their depth. The good doc hopes this time around, Darcy Regier does not make the same mistake as he did last season by not reinforcing his team. A good team still needs a lot of luck to win the big prize. Hope they have it this time around. :)
