Until a couple weeks ago the GOP looked likely to cruise to another Senate majority. They also have a comfortable lock on the House.
Now while the GOP is still well in the lead in the House, the Senate is in play. The GOP may lose its Senate majority.
The problem is Trump: his unpopularity is hurting Senate races with candidates being put on the spot over their support for Trump, and discouraged GOP voters being less likely to turn out to vote.
GOP losing the Senate would have several implications:
1. No hearings to impeach Clinton, the GOP could start them in the House but the Senate would kill it dead
2. Much easier ride for Clinton Supreme Court and Cabinet nominations
It's still a very close race with a full 7 Senate seats in the toss up category on RCP's projection.
