In light of the gruesome video footage of flotilla fighters attempting to club to death Israeli soldiers, do you think the organizers of the flotilla will apologize for the acts of violence committed by the fighters that were part of their group?

Videos from both Israel and from the activists showing the pro-Palestinian fighters attacking Israeli soldiers with iron rods and other things:

Why should they? If you were on your boat and some guys dressed in black climbed aboard unannounced and without permission what would you do?

They were hardly unannounced, and they were enfocing a lawful blockade, which the fighters on the boat had been repeatedly warned about, and given many opportunities to avoid.

However the larger issue is that their behavior completely contradicted what the organizers had said. The organizers had gone on a lot about how they would resist non-violently. Yet there they were bashing people with iron rods, throwing fire bombs, stabbing people, and, eventually, attacking with firearms that they stole off the bodies of soldiers they'd beaten to within an inch of their lives.

On the contrary, its an illegal blockade. The Goldstone Report exquisitely laid out the reasoning and the evidence. The recommendation is to take Israel to the International Criminal Court.

Y'all think this is a glorious victory for Israel. In the meantime, Israel has lost it's only friendly country in the region (Turkey and Israel were having joint military excercices next month), and infuriated a lot of europeans. To whom do you think Israel sells its fruit etc?

Like I've said, activists are rarely pacifists. Israel should have known better. They should have overwhelmed with sheer numbers or something like that. They should have gone in treating it like they would a riot, expecting physical resistance. No way those activists would turn around all the way back without a fight. But it's tough because you don't know how armed they'd be.

You have to admit, those Freedom Fighter struck a blow for all of us when they tossed that Israeli off the deck. I think people all over the world cheered.

Why do you keep repeating that anyone thinks this was a victory for Israel. They accomplished the mission and stopped the ships. But at a high cost in terms of PR which was the goal of the organizers from the outset. I would say for both Israel and the organizers mission accomplished. In terms of Turkey their friendship in recent times has been open to debate.

Doesn't change the facts. Just look at Turkey's recent actions vis a vis Israel. Whether or not you agree with them they do raise doubts as to the purported friendship.

What? I was just pointing out, that however good or questionable friend Turkey was to Israel, it was the only friend Israel had within the region. And to boot, it is a member of the UN Security councel, Nato, and an associate member of the EU.

Blockades are common during war. Actually it is the norm. How old are you?
Old enough to read and if you are the same, you should afford yourself the opportunity to read the Goldstone Report. It identifies the blockade as a War Crime. It provides the evidence. It provide the relevant laws. It contains the recommendation to take Israel to the International Criminal Court.

That's called the rule of law. But Israel is afraid of the law. Basically it's a nation of cowards who prefer murder to law.
