McDonald's only promote and produce inedible junk that does not look like the pictures in their ads. so why are they allowed to sponsor a sporting lifestyle which healthy eating is mandatory?

The official 'fill in the space' is one of the biggest cons in the world. All it takes is for you to apply and pay the fee, not much else. It's no indication of quality or integrity. what so ever.

It's easy to be judgmental so here goes:

McDonald's is an easy target.
Coke is an easy target as well. They sell Dasani water, so McDonald's sells salads.
VISA is, IMHO, pure evil. Outrageous fees and fight every effort for more competition and transparency in financial fees.
Petro-Canada....just an oil company.
Bell Canada....beloved by most TERBites when I read posts about them.
Canada Post....same as Bell.
General Motors....just incompetent and spending $50 Million to play in the Olympic playground.

But realistically speaking, our sports and cultural properties live off of sponsorships. The sports properties have drawn the line at tobacco sponsorship, but that's about the lowest standard out there. So yes, they are prostituting themselves for cash.

But we might not have the Olympics, the Film Festival, Stratford, the Leafs with their inflated salaries, etc. without corporate money.

One last rant....I watched a lot of NFL over the weekend. If I have to watch one more fucking Budweiser ad with their skanks, I'm going to puke. And all the CTV ads on their programming. I finally was able to pick up a non-simulcast game with the Jets last night.....American ads weren't better, just different and not as repetitive.

You can't be that naive, can you? Then again I guess that explains some of your other posts.

And in addition to the above: it is rather hard to pay for things with hot air and promises. Likewise it is rather hard to set up an entire Oympic Complex with volunteers - most construction workers want to be paid.

Oh, and ask the people of Montreal what they think of not having sufficent corporate donors.

You would think the IOC would encourage HEALTHY eating for the athletes NOT greay burgers fries etc. Although I think it would be the FANS not athletes who would be lining up to get their Mc FIX

i never get this mcdonalds bashing

for many folks, mcdonalds is affordable eating for a hungry family, while fruits and veggies, which cost $ by the pound, is not affordable

if mcdonalds gave away their food in Haiti, would the Haitians complain that it's junk

I have no problem with McDonalds. But I hate the Olympics, to me it is the height of hypocrisy. They have all these bullshit ideals, which they constantly betray for personal gain. The Olympics are a disgrace and should be banned.

Actually that is a myth. Four chicken legs and some vegetables cost about 5 bucks from the grocery store. Stewing beef and potatoes also inexpensive. Tuna, Pasta. Cooking food in bulk from fresh is actually way more inepxensive and much healthier then getting your meals from mcdonalds

I agree with the OP on this issue..... Besides, I would have much rather seen Taco Bell as the sponsor.

Also, I sometimes wonder the McDonalds share holders also own stock in toilet paper companies? It would really explain what a Big Mac does to me......

Cheers!
