I know grabbing things from the tube and linking them is easy.
But what if we look at the difference between Fed highways in Canada and US?
In Canada the provincial highway system is the power house.
And fed road programs are a drop in the bucket.
Then there is the US.
With 50 states of separate trasportation divisions.
Look up AASHTO.
A great idea of comittee specification developments.
Canada transportation specifications are different, but actually draw from a lot from different ASSHTO specs.
Then look up the design parameters originally in the 50's Interstate Highway Act regulations.
One mile on average in every five had to be straight and level enough to be able to serve as an emergency airstrip.
