Don't hafta ditch what I don't have!

The list for NOT having an iPhone keeps getting bigger and bigger.

IMHO the only reason so many people have it, is because they have been fooled by the marketing into thinking it's the cool phone to have.

The Android and newer Blackberries are a far superior devices and with very few of the limitations that plague the iPhone.

Bit the bullet. Paid cash for my passport unlocked. And haven't regretted the decision for a moment. This is a great phone.

" The patent granted in August 2012 gives Governments, businesses, and network owners the right to disable your camera, wi-fi and video capabilities on an iPhone for any reason, at any time. Apple, being the sneaky innovators they are, will pre-package this application into the phones and most likely all other mobile products in the future."

This is how Sony lost the MP3 market after dominating tapes with their Walkman. Sony owned a lot of media (videos, music) and thought MP3 would compromise their sales because of the ease of copying music. Now Apple is a multi-billion dollar media distributor - maybe this is a move to prevent copying movie & concerts. Since it can be used a form of government censorship, maybe Apple is also trying ingratiate themselves for government contracts.

I doubt this is going to affect Apple sales since most Apple users are not recognised for their technical prowess.

I too am coveting a BlackBerry Passport.

I just wish it had the keyboard of the classic and I'd be in.

iPhones are still reported more secure then other phones.
No flash card virus issues and generally harder to crack.

Plus, they work better.

But whatever turns your crank.

Is that per day perhaps? My understanding is they moved well over what they thought was going to sell initially and went into the over 1 million units range. And I believe in the last quarter showed net profit.

There are rumours as well of a new tablet specifically for gov't and business with all the BlackBerry security.

Keyboard is fine. A pop up screen when typing has all the extra buttons. And the main keyboard is one big scroll button. Works great for reading. No touching of pesky links and ads while perusing the web.

Yup, I stopped at ip4s. This is not the only shady practice they do. I am fed up with them. I still use the Mac Book becuase I don't need to worry about virus, but am at my limit with them especially with the shady practice of crippling a perfectly capable machine with software upgrades just to makes us buy new laptops or how they change their power adapters so you need to buy new ones or more and more accessories. Looks like the pendulum is swinging back and apple is not what it used to be.

It's not one or the other. There is plenty of room on the market for several types. Some of us prefer the keyboard. Really it depends on what the focus of your phone use is.

I read a lot more than use visual media and the BlackBerry is superior for that. Even my friends(including a rabid stock holder) really liked the usability for that and the overall design.

You're going on the past about security. They are getting hacked. Again even my rabid friends acknowledge it.

"Through the current quarter, BlackBerry has moved only 8,000 units of the business-focused Passport and the throwback Classic. While the target mark for sales isn’t disclosed, what is made clear is that 8,000 falls painfully short. The note from Morgan Stanley states the sales figures are “not tracking anywhere close” to the expected sales numbers."

The biggest reason I hate my Iphone is the music capabilities SUCK !

My MP3 player will take all of my songs.

When I try putting them on my Iphone there are about 100 plus songs that will not upload to the device.

I don't know if it's a copyright thing or what but it's a major pain in the ass !

As for Sony , they are a tunnel vision company !

Started with them blowing it big time with Beta video.

They would not sell the patent so someone invented VHS and blew them away - shame cause Beta was better quality.
