Whether we want to admit it or not, many humans have a morbid curiosity.
As a teenager, I read endless books about serial killers and was particularly fascinated with the psychology behind their crimes.
I wish I'd taken criminal psychology in school versus what I did take.
I don't have a "favourite" serial killer per say, although I do have categories.
Most animalistic goes to Andrei Chikatilo and Peter Kurten.
Most sadistic goes to Roy Norris and Lawrence Bittaker, the Toolbox Murderers.
Most strikingly intelligent goes to Edmund Kemper which with his size makes him terrifying.
Most interesting goes to H.H. Holmes and his murder castle.
Biggest liar (falsely claiming murders as own and numbers padding) goes to Henry Lee Lucas.
Most hated (by me) goes to the idiotic slug Arthur Shawcross.
Best book goes to Invisible Darkness about Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka. Not an easy read as it details the videos found in the attic.
Most prolific are Joseph DeAngelo, the Original Night Stalker (also found to be the Visalia Ransacker, the East Area Rapist AND the Golden State Killer and Samuel Little.
Both have only been caught fairly recently after decades.
Can you imagine finding out your grandpa is a prolific serial killer?
And Pedro Lopez who likely has the highest kill count... guess what? He is a free man. He disappeared after being released years ago.
