Gary Bettman is being accused of running a 'private country club' by Balsillie's lawyers....

Any good Canadian should be supporting the side wanting to bring more Canadian teams to the NHL.

Hey... I live there.
Just a minor correction... teams like Quebec City and Winnipeg did have teams. Why is he any "less Canadian" simply because he doesn't want to put his team back in the same previous markets?

It is funny how we forget the fact that it's not that the NHL doesn't want Jim Balsillie .... He is perfectly find and allowed to buy a NHL team but he isn't allowed to dictate how the league should run it's busniness ...

Where is this Canadian pride when teams(?) like Quebec City and Winnipeg still don't have teams ... Balsillie isn't doing this for Canada ... He is doing it too put a team in his backyard ( a city where his wife grew up ) ...

Make no mistake, the Bettman led NHL does not want Balsillie !
And someone should dictate to them how to run a sports league because as far as I can tell they are not doing a very good job.
Far too many teams in non-hockey markets. Three in California, two in Florida, one each in Georgia, Texas, Tennesse and Arizona for a total of nine.
Only six in Canada, the world's best hockey market/country. Something wrong there.
Add to this the fact that several owners are under investigation or have already been found guilty or pleaded guilty.

Balsillie wants to put a team in Southern Ontario. The best market in the entire world for hockey.



Like Calloway said they had teams. For whatever reason they lost them.
I happen to think the NHL should go back to those cities before another US market, but that is just my opinion.
