You could probably buy a new cheep quality battery from walmart or canadian tire for a little more than 50-60 bucks.

Join CAA, then the boost is free. It's good value, especially if you drive an older car.

Yeah, if they're too busy they'll tell you to use another company and send them the bill.

Your neighbour... who usually does it for free too!

If you're not home, the nearest gas station usually has good samaritans, and if there are security guards around, they usually have jumpers to help.

DrRogers has left the Bld
Get a portable booster pack - use it once and it is paid for - also use it as as backup power supply for many things especially with at 110 converter - it is a great gadget to have .

I echo what Drrogers says. I bought one of the battery packs from CT (before they started coming with the inverters darn it!) and while I haven't had to use it to boost my own car, I have helped 3 others.

Advantage: If something bad happens it's not my car battery that gets wrecked, just the battery pack. Also I don't have to maneuver my car around nose-to-nose with the dead car.

The other advantage is when I go camping, just bring the pack and a 12-volt light and I've got light in the tent forever (essentially anyways)

I have had one for years and it works well.

I'm a little disappointed. With a thread title of "Who ya gonna call?", I thought for sure someone would've screamed "Ghostbusters!" by now. :D

I agree with the advice to get something like a Canadian Tire Eliminator battery booster.

But also, everyone should get and keep battery cables in their cars. Whatever happened to neighbours or good Samaritans helping one another out?? Fred and I probably stop and give a dozen or more boosts a year to other people.

Always be cautious boosting a battery, though. Be sure you get the cables hooked up the right way, attach the negative to a ground rather than to the terminal, and never look directly at the battery when hooking it up. Batteries can explode and spew acid -- you wouldn't want to get it in your eyes. Protective glasses is a good idea, but failing that, at least make every effort to shield your face.

..c..
