if you had to choose, men def. need women more, whereas women would do fine, in the long run, without men. start a PhD to answer the question 
I think men need women more....I think it falls in to the fact that they were mothered, and still feel that need. Women on the other hand can get by just fine without.
I know alot of seperated or widowed people and it seems that 90% of the men get remarried, but not the women

Men DEFINITELY need women more.
Just look at the escort industry. How many male agencies(non gay) can you come up with - not that I've checked but I'm sure they're no where near as many as female.
As for women needing men - there's never a hole big enough that shopping can't sustain - of course it always helps when she's spending a guys money.

I will state, from personal experience women NEED the opposite sex more in order to satisfy their need for security, children, loneliness and aging. Sex is secondary to all these NEEDS. Women will go to great lengths in order to not be alone.
Men, I find, WANT the opposite sex more. The ultimate male dream is to have sex with any woman you want, anytime you want, anywhere you want with no sense of commitment, consequence or responsibility. Men still want their life, their family and their children. They just want to have recreational sex at their leisure without it impacting their fundamental life. Men can separate Sex and Love easier than women can. Sex is primary to all these WANTS. Men will go to great lengths in order to have good sex.
I am very much looking forward to all the varying opinions that will follow this post.

Men need women more. Most to replace their moms. Most single men I know are pathetic. And the married ones have a women to keep them in line. Whereas most women can take care of themselves. Although the need for motherhood leads them to some pretty bad mistakes. Thus the 50% divorce rate which I believe is low. Most of the remaining 50% want out.
The math does add up because women outnumber men 3 to 2 pass the age of 50. So, the 2 men marry 2 women and there is still one woman to spare.wop said:

The funny thing about Sharon Stone's quote is that men aren't necessarily faking the relationship. The quote assumes that for men, the sexual exclusivity is the foundation of the relationship. The actual truth is, notwithstanding what people think or say, is that sexual exclusivity is not that important to men and definitely not as important to men as it is to women (except maybe her exclusivity to him, but not his to her).

Personally I am single and self-sufficent the majority of the time. I am at best getting sick and tired and at worst mad when the civilian chicks, hottie in particular taunt to men they are indispensible and they could get away with everything.
Having read many "chick" stuffs (maybe never enough) and experienced interactions the first hand, all I could say women needs men equally more, except women are good at manipulating the situation to their advantages.
Some, Asian chicks in particular are consummated like a pro to give the men false impression that after men giving/bribing gifts from LV, Prada, Cartier, Hermes and buying expensive dinners, she's going to appreciate and get intimate but it turned out you are in her control and she's mind-f**king you all along. To add insult to injury, she did this on purpose even though she earns more than you do and dump you once you are short of both patience and cash flow. She's essentially prostituting without providing FS and thus in her own mind, she feel she has higher morality than the SPs/MPAs.
For others, women would need men more due to a combination of women's laziness and lack of financial disciplines. This is especially obvious when the man's family (not necessarily himself) is wealthy. To her, he's a ticket for DB plan (Define benefit pension plan)/annuity, even for the Ladies who have financially rewarding careers.
It's hard to resist the tempation for those Ladies who earn high paying jobs to date the men who are deemed "wealthy" enough to pay recurring expense using his own money, while having him to transfer his portion of "fun" money to her so that together with her take home pay, she could spend heavily, even incurring significantly debt loads on luxurious items mentioned above cause she is entitled and deserved it !!
Again, not all Ladies are going to these two extremes but for the majority of those who are somewhere in between, you are out of luck cause many of them consider men as either hardcore "hobbyists"/"pigs" or grown up/immature teenage boys who could not be "trained" by them and instead absorbing himself to the world of comic books, Xbox 360, PSP 3 but not Nitendo Wii!!
