Does anyone here like sushi?

What are the best sushi restaurants in the GTA? Sushi is by far my favourite food, it's the only food I never get sick of, I can eat it everyday and I'd still love it. :)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE SUSHI!

One of the best is Sakawaya on Danforth, value and quality are both top notch! If you don't mind spending bit more, then go to Kaji on Etobicoke, if you want to stay downtown, go to Hiro sushi! All great, and healthy.

I haven't tried Sakura Kaisei on Church, but heard amazing reviews and would love to go there, heard it's bit on pricy side, so maybe when I get more pretty pennies, I'll visit!

:O Another person who loves sushi as much as I do!

Isn't it just the best? I've been to soo many sushi places around the GTA, and in Vancouver, and they definately are on par with the sushi in Japan, but in Japan they have more exotic types of sushi that you can't get here, and half the time the sushi over there is not flash frozen like it is here.

..............
And I can't forget sashimi! I love it too, and maki sushi is up there too! :)

make it worth your while and go to Umo Sushi on Steeles near Pacific Mall for their all you can eat buffet. Another nice one in Whitby is the one on Dundas and Lupin, just west of Brock Street, all you can eat and egg rolls so feresh they still sizzle out of the frying fat!

Try Sushi Kaji on The Queensway, the best sushi in the GTA..its an omakasa menu (meaning its a tasting menu) with three price levels to choose from.

I agree with Kailani and Suntze. But...did you know that Sushi Kaji keeps an outlet within Le Cafe Michi at Pharmacy and Sheppard (strip mall, southwest corner)? Never been to Kaji, but the fish I've had at Michi is the best i've had in Toronto so far, on a par with good shops in Japan. (i lived in Japan for three years so I have a bit of credibility, i hope).

Just go into the back (maybe 9 or 10 seats back there) and order the Sashimi set for 22 or 24$. Comes with quality tea, really good quality japanese rice , miso soup, a nice mesclun salad, and a slice of cake from the front display case. In my opinion the best price/value for sashimi in T.O.

I've also heard good reviews of Sakura Kaiseki on Church, but that's kaiseki food (very fancy), not necessarily sushi or sashimi that I think you're looking for.

I'd also recommend Sakawaya at Jones and Danforth. Koki Oguchi does some good things there, and plays some interesting jazz. Service is so slow as to be glacial, though.

Don't forget Etamae (sp?) just north of Queen st W on Duncan or St Patrick (you can see it from Queen streeet) near Osgoode station. This is real authentic home-cooked food, and sushi was very good, too. Large Japanese clientele. I mean lots, not big people...lol

Question....who would like sushi if you couldn't dip it in the soy/wasabi bowl?

Let's face it, your eating bland, sticky white rice, with gummy, tasteless raw fish on top of it.

It's the condiment that makes the meal.

Now if your talking about tempura shrimp, or terayki salmon...I'm in for that.

I just went to Sakawaya tonight after reading this post for my girlfriend's bday:D The owner whipped up "chuu-toro"(premium fatty tuna) Oh my gosh! There was party in my mouth and everyone's invited... LOL

Had to pack up for leftover since it was only 2 of us and I've order enough for 3. Make sure to ask for Omakase by owner chef, who has some serious magic hand! KUDO!

You have got my mouth watering! Wish I was eating sushi and not baking muffins.

the best sushi restaurant in toronto is Sushi Marche in Leslieville.... the sushi chef there was Iron Chef Morimoto's Sushi Chef in NYC ....... good price and great fresh sushi. The guy goes and hand picks all the ingrdients for the day everyday at the market except sundays... which until recently he was closed..... but demand has forced him to open.
