let's see, I've had an A4 - great drive, horrible piece of shit to own.
Saab 9-3 is awesome to look at, but you're driving what is essentially a chevy malibu with a nice cover. Not so great to drive and horrible horrible reliability. Almost bought one a year ago becuase I love the look so much. Then I drove some. Terribly disappointed.
Volvo = kinda boring. Have not heard great things about reliabilty either.

Haven't driven the is250 or the new tsx but - these two will def be more reliable than the other choices.

My reco = bmw.

Personally I'd leave the out the Saab and Volvo, even these cars had made leaps and bounds improvement over the last few years.
The A4 is a great car, especially the all wheel drive factor (living in Ontario).
I find the interior design a bit boring, but everything else solid including performance.

TSX is a very well balanced car, has everything and the Honda fit and finish is always tops.

As for the IS, I love the fact that not a lot of people drive it (compared to the A4 and TSX), I like the exterior design and always liked Lexuses (I've had 3).
Performance wise probably not as much pep as the Acura or even Audi,
but it's my first choice because I don't really want to look like everybody else on the road.

A couple of things to consider:

- New 2009 A4 model coming out in a couple of months
- New model TSX coming out later this year based on European Accord
- Love BMW but always significantly more expensive especially 335,
- IS 250 is a good choice, especially AWD
- Consider Infiniti G35 X

Finally, in addition to waiting until the new models come, consider waiting for market to soften. I feel a little sorry for the dealers, but the manufacturers are still not close enough to US pricing (based on dollar parity) and they are really hurting south of the border due to the economy

As an owner of a TSX I can highly recommend this vehicle. It maintains a nice balance between performance and fuel efficiency, handles beautifully and with the sport package it's a damn sexy beast. Typical Honda/Acura quality... which is why I am loyal to the brand. Having said that, I wish it had a little more power... I owned a TL previously and miss the purr of the VTEC V6.

As for your other cars... they are all great choices IMHO. Audi's reliability record has improved but maintenance for that one and the Saab can be pricey. Love the Lexus but as someone suggested, the 350 is the way to go!

I currently own BMW, Acura, and Lexus, used to have a Mercedes and Jag, and overall, taking quality, looks, reliability, handling, price, ongoing costs, functionality, comfort, etc....... into consideration, IMO, the best vehicle for your buck is Lexus.
