It's time for a new bb at work and my options are the Z10, Q10 or Z30. Those are my only options so something else isn't in the cards.

Right now I have an old bb with the hard keyboard. I have an iPhone for personal use and I don't particularly like typing on it but that's not necessarily a deal breaker on the new bb.

Any recommendations? Any key difference I should be aware of?

I saw the Z30 and it looked a little big for an office bb.

I know there are bb aficionado's on TERB so let me know what you think.

I had both a Z10 and a Z30. Z30 is much better in terms of performance and overall use. Touch keyboard took less than 1 week to adapt to. Z30 is a little more fragile due to the screen glass going right to the edge, Z10 has a frame. I dropped my Z10 multiple times without a problem. Dropped Z30 one time too many and it landed just right to crack the screen right across - the crack has not diminished the performance at all (I have used it this way for almost one year), and can only be seen at certain angles. I strongly recommend the Z30 for the larger screen size and therefore larger typing surface.

Pretty much what sohappy said. The Z30 is pretty slick. Great battery life, nice display, very responsive, fast browser and it took me no time to type at twice the speed I was capable of on my previous BB with the physical keyboard.

If you're worried about the screen there's lots if protective cases for them which adds very little to the overall size but will prevent it from getting dinged up if you drop it.

Z30 is a no brainer IMHO!

Z30 seems to be the leader at this point. I like the battery life comment as I'm constantly fighting to keep my current one charged (a couple long con calls and it's done).

I had a z30. It's big, but the size/weight was not a noticeable drawback in use. The larger screen is nice. Just a bit more real estate to watch movies or surf. But, I hated it. I couldn't type on it. For some reason, it just wasn't very accurate for me. It drove me nuts. It also kept crashing or freezing on me. At least once a day.

If you're stuck with BB, get a Q10. The keyboard is unbeatable.

Strange, my Z30 has never frozen and found the virtual keyboard way better. I also find the Q10 screen too small and the battery is 37% bigger on the Z30.

Do you have it in a case? I didn't. It froze often when I tried to "wake" it.

Office work? Q10 all the way.

End of thread.

That being said, if you can put off the decision, I would till Sept-Oct. Then its the Passport all the way.

I didn't have it in a case for the first few months but then got one like this. I've dropped it a few times and the case has saved it from any damage. If you're phone was freezing then it had a problem and they should have replace it under warranty.

Some people just have trouble with virtual keyboards. Myself included. Loathe the things.

I haven't tried the Z30 but I'd tame the Q10 over the Z10, I like the keyboard and battery life that goes with it

Which is why BlackBerry offers a choice.
Yeah, I like BB, I hope they pull through. Them putting a lid on the uncertainty is the first step to them pulling though, and the new CEO seems to be doing a good job of that. I do like the keyboard models, and once my current android gets a little longer in the tooth, I'll seriously consider one (again). The BB native apps use Qt on a unix like OS (QNX), and I use Qt under KDE in Linux, and have done some development there... So I actually have a pretty vested interest in hoping they pull through.

I agree, there is still all significant market for those who find, battery life and a keypad among other features very practical. Blackberry may survive as a niche player doing what they do best hopefully. They are not equipped to run with the major players as BB cannot get new products to market on time without serious delays. They are not likely to become flavour of the month, kind of fashionable as say Apple or Samsung among young people who change their phones every few months and do not use them as a work tool. Everything old is new again and maybe BB will produce a new or trendy gadget in the future which pulls in the fashion and trend conscious but not those who find the phone just meets their daily practical needs.
