I haven't had the time to watch the video but I thought the 13th was unlucky because Jesus was betrayed by the 13th apostle. In a related myth I was told the bad luck regarding spilling salt came from the painting of the last supper in which Judas spills the salt while grabbing his bag of gold coins.

I'm not sure but the beginning of the end of The Roman Empire took place on August 13 378. The Battle of Adrianople.

Spaman beat me to it. But i thought it was the church arresting and executing the knight templar because the templar grew too powerful.

Not the Church but apparently the Nights Templar had become very powerful and wealthy and Philip did not want to pay his debt

Philip IV of France arrested hundreds of the Knights Templar on Friday the 13
The persecution of the Knights Templar began on Friday 13th, 1307, they were richer than the King - always lethal.

I looked into it. March 18th 1314, was the day that that Knight's Templar Grand Master Jacques De Molay was burned at the stake. As the flames were lit, he issued a curse against King Phillip IV and Pope Clement. Both died within a year of his passing. Not long after that, The Hundred Years War started. Then the Black Death. Sheeeiiitt, no wonder Friday 13th in unlucky!

For the Italians its Friday the 17 not the 13. They use the horns against bad luck. Sid should know this.

Supposedly only created as a justification in the past 100 years or so.

Yes 13 is seen as unlucky in Christianity but there is nothing historical connecting it to Fridays in the public mind. (ie - no one in the middle ages or even the vast majority of people post renaissance would have known or cared about templars or the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire)
