I would like to unlock a Fido cell phone which I no longer use so that I can use other SIM card when travelling. Where can I get the phone unlocked?

Depends where you are... There's a kiosk in the Bayfield Mall in Barrie that does it... Or at least adverstises that they do.

I unlock my Active phone with Ebay just before recent trip. Search on Ebay with "Fido unlock" + your cellphone model.

Depends where you go, it may be cheap to buy Pay-as-you-go phone in country such as France & Germany, SIMs were sold in min $40 CDN. French black market SIMs are cheap but you'll need 'connections' to buy from these guys.

It depends on the model you have.

If it is "soft-locked", you can unlock the phone yourself by punching in the codes.

If it is "hard-locked" (e.g., a Motorola RAZR), you will need to bring it into a store like those mentioned above where they will need to plug in a wire.

You can easily unlock your fido locked mobile using unlock code. You can get unlock code from your service provider or else try to buy a unlock code from online unlocking service provider. If you need unlock code visit Simpleunlocking.com Here they will provide your unlock code with simple unlock instructions via e-mail.

Before you go to those " little shops" make sure you mark you phone. They tend to take parts. I.e check your battery and make sure they give you back the exact same one you started brought your phone with and not some used battery that you have no idea how old it really is

If you bought the phone from Fido, and you are still a customer, and you have had the phone for quite some time -- it is worth calling them and asking for the unlock code. They may just give it to you.

I bought a phone in Europe for 19 Euros loaded with 10 Euros worth of calls. Throw it away afterwards!
