Good question. Often when I'm going to the bank machine they only have $5, $20 or $50 denominations available for withdrawal.

I actually had this conversation with a server at one of my favorite restaurants a while back...no idea how we got on this subject LOL. He said $10 bills are relatively rare because people don't get them as change so much. The $5 bills and coins are more popular because most purchases cost more than $10 these days. So getting that bill in change when you pay with a $20 isn't as common. Seems most cash registers have way more $5 bills than $10 bills.
