When was the last time both the Habs & the Leafs missed the playoffs in the same year ?

I do not know & I am not sure how to find out.
There have been times in recent memory when the Leafs were the laughing stock of the league ie early 1980s (pre Wendall Clarke), however I believe the Montreal Canadians were a playoff team then (Probably one a Cup then too)
Is it back in the original six team era?

If you know, let us know

Thanks

Ok I did some research.
There have been only 4 times both the Leafs & Canadians both missed the playoffs in the same year.
2006-2007
1969-1970 (Montreal Won cups in 1969 & 1971, but missed the playoff in 1970???)
1925-1926
1919-1920

Interesting, however useless trivia
I know its a slow Sat night for this guy

Correct. It came down the the final game of the season. Habs led Rangers by 2 points and also had more GF. Rangers won their game 9-5 so Montreal had to win by 5 to take the last playoff spot. Trailing 5-3, Claude Ruel pulled the goalie with less than 10 minites left IIRC to try to pump in some more goals. Well, the Hawks ended up scoring a few more goals and won the game - thus eliminating Montreal by way of a tie-breaker.
