Not trying to criticize here but I am surprised by the events Post Superbowl (ie:Janet Jackson Tit Popping Out).....
What's wrong with you People?

A president (will not name him) of the So Called most powerful nation gives the orders to Kill millons of Irakis and is praised, but a lady pops out her tit and the country goes Ballistic.....

So is it better to show Death on CNN rather than a Tit???

Gimme a MOTHERF*CKING Break!!!!!

That was my rant of the Day

That's what makes us the, ahem, greatest democracy in the world.

People are respected for getting completely wasted and driving home but if you show a little skin where its not expected and everyone goes nuts.

I agree with the NFL

I have to agree with the NFL's position with regards to Janet Jackson. The NFL spent some 40 yrs nurturing and building up the crowds and veiwership to reach the 90 million mark. The first few Sper Bowls in fact were duds in terms of game attendance and TV viewing. Over the years the NFL has built that game (and everything around it) into what it is today. Heck the TV commercials are a show onto themselves because of the NFL. I have no problem so much as her showing her tits on TV, but Janet get your own crowd!!! Don't steal the stage from someone else. This way when I tune into a concert on TV I know there may be something funky going on, and the people viewing are watching it because of the performer.

On a semi-related note ...

One thing I hate is all these 'musicians/artists" always doing and saying things in the defense of "artistic freedom" and saying they are pushing the bounds of soiciety. I have a question to all of them. Who the F**K asked you??!! Sing your song and get the F**K off the stage. No I don't give a rats ass what you have to say because 90% of the time it is not english to begin with. And that is just for starters. Too many other reasons to go through so I will cut my rant short.

Because of Timberlake and Jackson parents now have to explain to their 7-year old boy that its not cool or funny for a male to rip a woman's clothes off.
For adults to see it, its no big deal. But for young boys and girls who are still forming their ideas of social behavior and relationships to watch a guy violently rip a girl's shirt to expose her breast is not the best thing for them to see...

hehe ..... how did I know what this thread was going to be related to. Probably because something similar, although not exactly the same, has crossed my mind at interludes throughout the day ...

My question is, WTF is with banning or withdrawing her from the Grammy's, or whatever, oh so holly, event it is. I can see that the mentality of North Americans who seem to like to sue people left right and centre could be an issue, but get a grip. It's Janet Jackson, not Jim Morrison or Sidney bloody Vicious. I'm sure she's learnt something from it. What that would be, I'm not quite sure. I don't really follow this nonsense too closely, so part of my opinion is surmised from snippets ...

OK, here's my main beef. In all of this, I haven't heard one person mention that the act itself is being condemned in any way and out of curiosity I asked those who follow it somewhat. It only seems they are offended by the result; a breast. Isn't "forcefully" and, with what was projected to be, without warning or consent, pulling down a womans top more troubling than seeing a titty ?

How is it we are so desensitised to things with violent undertones and yet freak out over nudity in the what's judged to be the "wrong place". It's not as if it were at the friggin ballet, but then again if it were they might be less uptight ...

It's only a womans beast for fucks sake ( uuuh, no "pun" intended )

PS I just read ocean976124's post. There is sanity out there after all ... it just doesn't seem to be distributed very evenly.

If I had any complaint, it was it was not a very good breast! That nipple thingy looks like it could start spinning and poke out an eye!

For all those complaining, I wonder how many saw it live and how many were scrambling after the fact to see the pixellated titty.

Make love not war.

My TV has an on/off switch. I control it, not the other way around. I do not want Big Brother deciding what I can/cannot watch.
We should all exercise tolerance and develop the ability to recognize horseshit when we see it.

First point I agree completely. As a guest performer, you should stick to your host's standards. You can push the envelope in your own venue.

The second point I don't agree. Without artists pushing the envelope, we wouldn't have rock and roll, jazz, and rap. We would still be listening to 30's swing bands. At one point or another, all of these art forms were banned, criticized, and mocked. Well, look where they are now.

Having to explain to you 7 yr old that it was wrong? Sheesh, Have you SEEN some of the videos on MTV? THAT WAS TAME MY FRIENDS.

I am not surprised by the whole situation however, like a previous poster said: Its cool to show bombs dropping on bagdad but not a boob on tv.

Its so hypocritical, as Howard Stern said on this show last week: The US is the largest producer and consumer of porn (hardcore), ads in magazines are racy, music videos even more so, and they are freaking over this?

Not to judge our neighbours to the south but if I were you, I'd freak about:
1) babies being born addicted to crack
2) kids taking automatic weapans to school
3) your consuming of natural resources
4) lack of environmental responsibility
5) crappy sercurity at your airports

Take care of the above THEN worry about a titty on TV

You hit the nail right on the head there poolie.

It's all about the tit and nothing to do with anything else.

The FCC is going to probably spend 2 million bucks (they say, so you know it's more) investigating all of this. What a waste of taxpayers money in a country where 45 million people have no health care whatsoever. Right up there with spending 2 billion investigating and persuing Clinton's blow job.

Here's a good quote:

In America, you can shoot a woman in the breast, but you can’t suck it. It’s the American way. Personally, I’d rather suck it.

CBS is possibly facing millions of dollars in fines. They're trying to do everything to look contrite...

Oh please. You must be from Canada, either that or the most out of touch American. The Super Bowl is almost a holiday in the USA. Lots of small children were allowed to stay up and lots watched the half time show. While most fell asleep before the end of the game, in the USA the Super Bowl is the event which makes the entire nation sit down and stay up.

I thought only people over 75 years were watching that show.....and only cau's they can't get go and get a cold Beer in the Fridge..... (just Kidding Here....please don't sue).

If you have seen the Video Live, you will understand!! it went really fast you could barely see it....

HOWEVER, what about the number of times it appeared on the News (magnified and slow motionned of course, so you can really see).... THAT is a shame.

Get over it

For once I'm with NF - who cares if Janet wants to show her tit. I missed it live, I run from the TV any time I hear the words Justin Timberlake - what an idiot. For once the football game was better than the half time show.

I know we are some sort of weird puritan society - but at least we don't curl - now that's sick!

O.K., I have to say a few things about all this.

Can you imagine what they must have thought in Eurpoe where a news show would probably show a commercial featuring a topless woman selling shampoo and when the news came back on they would have to comment on a nipslip that probably didn't last a quarter of a second?

If this is so outragious why didn't the American media just refuse to talk about it instead of spending hour after hour saying how children must be protected?

If children should not see bare breasts should mothers blindfold their babies before breastfeeding?

And stop me if I'm wrong but isn't this an overly puritanical stance considering that the gold old USA is the world's lagest producer of hardcore pornography?

And what kind of pervets are Canadians where the Globe and Mail (our national newspaper) printed Ms. Jackson's breast in their paper without distorting it? Come to think of it, the CBC didn't use video distortion either.

The thing that really pisses me off is I watch/read news for information. I already knew Janet Jackson had breasts. I'd rather they focussed on something interesting.

Then again, I don't like fake tits.
