I just downloaded a new browser called comodo icedragon, seems a lot faster than chrome. Is there any disadvantage to other browsers compared to chrome, as chrome seems to be all the rage, or is the functionality basically the same?

Ottawa base.
Google chrome for "Malika" stuff, firefox for "personal" me.
Chrome will often sync everything involved with them, like gmail, twitter, facebook in some weird algorythm and my personal friends would show up in my "know you" on twitter.

All a web browser has to do in interpret what you receive on port 80. What do you have to pay for getting a program for free that does that?

I use Palemoon. It looks like Firefox before they fucked it up to look like Chrome.

I used the Netscape web browser before the boys left and started up Mozilla.
Have been a Firefox user since they developed it.
Nothing better!

Firefox for me. WebKit descended browsers (ie Safari and Chrome) have so much market share, someone has to use the underdogs to keep their market share high enough that web sites conform to standards instead of cater to the big two. And I don't have any Windows machines in regular use, so Firefox is the best choice for me.

I kind of miss the stripped down and fast philosophy they initially started with. It has felt quite bloated and slow to me for the last five years or so :(

Firefox was really fast back awhile ago.
Sometimes I'll have (not responding) appear at the top of the browser and I wonder what that's all about.
I don't have too many add-kind and I have an SSD for my operating system and programs, which makes things fly, maybe it is bloated and that is the cause of out freezing sometimes.

Gonna look into palemoon as mentioned above.

Is it called a search engine ?

Are there better ones?

Just like transitioning to using Google Search years back, I use Chrome.

Works fast and has a simple clean interface.

I have no idea how good Google Search and Chrome are vs. the competition, but to me, they work well and smooth. So no point changing.

I use Edge for most things, Chrome as a backup on windows 10, Firefox on unix, and Chrome on android. They all do the job.
