For me , it was "It's About Time" in 1966 , about a cave man and family being transported to present day L.A. and having to adjust to life there.

My memory only goes as far back as 1989 and the first one that pops into mind is Batman with Adam West. We had bunny ears on the tv and got maybe 3 or so channels, but that show is the only thing that really sticks out. Growing up poor gives you a better understanding of the world lol.

yes for most people the first show happened when they where a baby. The first one you remember maybe, or the first one you could understand was TV. My parents probably introduced me to the Flintstones or some other scripted cartoon. Back then there where only a hand full of TV shows that where cartoons, pre Simpsons. Some kind of Canadian TV would be up there for childrens TV, and my Canadian centric parents. Canadian TV always was limited - but again thsis would be when I was 2 or 3 years old. So first? Flintstones would be my best bet. Od question - Mr. Dressup for live action maybe?

It would have to be either Friendly Giant, Mr. Dress-up or Sesame Street. Pretty sure that will cover about 40 years of Canadian generations.

Either "The Forest Rangers". That theme song pops into my head probably once a month

or "The Friendly Giant" .... "Look up, waaay up"

Damn! Actually brought a tear to my eye, stupid harp and recorder. (Too much dust in the room)

Not sure. Maybe Underdog. I also remember one morning waiting and waiting for Underdog but only Bulwinkle seemed to be on.

Forest Rangers question

Is this pure fantasy or was part of Canada like this?

PS the Junior Forest Ranger where real (they fought fires planted trees etc) but where disbanded in 2012 from budget cuts

Ah cmon brain, you have to work faster...Rocket Robin Hood.
I definitely remember this one as a kid too. Usually really early on Saturday mornings (like 5-6 AM) on Global. There was also Hercules, Speed Racer, Astro-Boy.

The adult me now knows that these were all early examples of Japanese anime that became popular in North America.

Sesame Street.
Also, my Mother was a big fan of Peyton Place when I was a kid so I had no choice about that one.
