I'm relatively new to to the Toronto area, and was wondering what other TERBians read to get 'local' in on news, shopping, events, etc.

I can't think of any great ones, but I do go to:

NOW Toronto
http://www.nowtoronto.com/

Eye Weekly
http://www.eyeweekly.com/

Redflagdeals. Not just Toronto, but lots of local stuff. Good forums.

blogTO
http://www.blogto.com/

I think the Star isn't a very good paper, but at least it is local:

What I'm looking for:

Good real estate forum, investing, hyper-local blogs about shopping, eating, etc.

The best investing website in my opinion is www.seekingalpha.com.

Another decent one that you can get around the pay-wall block is online.barrons.com.

If you visit barrons and read the first couple of paragraphs of an article, but are blocked by the pay-wall from reading the rest, go to google, type in the exact name of the article title and then add the plus sign and input barrons. Google will find a direct link to the article. After clicking on the direct link, you will go straight to the article without having to pay for it.

Another tip about investing, if you watch cnbc, just do the opposite of what Jim Cramer suggests and you will do alright.
