mine is definitely the one in To Live and Die in L.A....it was the best part of that movie...it really made you feel like you were there in the car with them....and your pulse races faster watching it....beats out the more famous car chase scenes like French Connection and Bullitt which were kind of lame, imho.....

While it wasn't technically a car chase I like the chase scene in Jurassic Park.

The transporter 1 opening chase sequence. Has that european flair to it.

Sorry, the Bullit chase scene may be lame by today's standards but they were all live action shots not like the FnF scenes which were mostly digital. Plus there was no film speed manipulation or ANY special effects.

Honorable mention goes to:
The original Italian Job
Fast N Furious (some pretty hot scenes even if they were digital)
Vanishing Point (the whole movie is one big chase)
Gone in 60 Seconds (Nick Cage and Elinore...)
Days of Thunder (not really a "chase" movie per se but some really dramatic race scenes, especially when he's taking Rusty's car for a spin at the testing track where cruise says: I'm putting the hammer down, NO YOU'RE NOT, and he let's it rip....it freaking blows you away on surround sound)

Now that i think of it and although it's not the classic chase scene, the whole of the movie " The Duel" was one big chase. Great movie.

Yeha Lanc, that was Speilberg's first real movie.....was kind of cheesy at times but yup. was a good one.

(not to be TOO picky but it wasn't called THE duel...it was just Duel.....)

...totally. Best car chase scene ever...

Honorable mention - though it is actually not a "chase" scene, the "Madonna" driving sequence in the BMW short films is amazing...

You are right, it was just Duel.

early Speilberg, early Dennis Weaver. It was at times cheesy but still good suspense without a $60 Million special effects budget.

LOL yeah man, I have all the BMW films and that one I could watch over and over again......the sound track is perfect too....(thanks for the reminder, I'm going to watch it again now lol)

For those films did you know they had to disable a lot of the traction and stability control features to get the cars to react that way?

BTW: everyone's harping on Ronin. I just saw it again recently and don't recall a great car chase in it...

Another great one is the bond movie where James steals a T-72 tank and drives it through moscow. BTW: for the record, I cried when they wrecked the BD9 in Casino Royale.....god those things are sex on wheels.....

I take Bullitt and some scenes in the Blues Brothers where they show the speed of an old State Patrol car doing mach1 under the railway tracks of the EL....

Also, the original Italian Job. I hate CGE in chase scenes. I haven't seen Ronin, but I know that it is supposed to be the real deal because Frankenheimer is old school......
