As I feel I am somewhat of an authority on the subject I would say no. One can adaptively get accostomed to not having sex. You feel kinda desperate to change your situation for a few years then you just get on with the rest of your life. But when a hot woman passes me on the street I'll still turn my head, I'll still wonder...

So unless your well advanced in years (though some of the older TERBites may disagree), I don't think a lack of sex would make you lose your sex drive.

I have not had sex for 5 or 6 weeks now... (yes I'm bragging) and I am more horny then you can even imagine.
It gets easier after about 3 years (yes I'm bragging :p ). Hang in there.

Depends on what you mean by"lack of sex": lack of opportunity? lack of desire? lack of function?
Each of these is different, even if they may all have the same result: not having the opportunity does not affect the drive -which can be reactivated in a few minutes. Lack of desire is the same as - not the cause of - lack of drive. Lack of function simply leads the desire to disappointment.
Each of these can be corrected, or at least mollified: the first, by opportunity; the second by therapy and possibly by therapeutic injections, and perhaps Levitra, and most importantly, by spending much less time on quadratic equations, the transcendental synthetic unity of apperception and their equivalent etc.; and the third, by diet, exercise and consequential blood vessel rehabilitation and, as a last resort, the various drugs associated with this condition.
But it is essential to understand that each of these "cures" can be readily excized and replaced with the much more enjoyable and effective attentions of just the right person.

Out there; somewhere.
Bell Curve?

When I have sex 3 or 4 times per week I find it causes me to want sex more and more. If I go a week or longer without sex then I find I don't crave it as much. Weird! I must be an addict, the more I use the more I want. LOL. So, I guess I can see it, but further tests are required and I'm on one of the 3 or 4 times per week kicks so I can't offer much help at this time! ;)

I imagine if I waited too long the affect would start to reverse and I'd get all horny and bothered, not able to talk right, walk straight, those kind of things. I imagine its like a Bell Curve and I try to maintain my "A".

I'd include masturbation as sex.

I'd say yes, use it or lose it.

Of course it happens, and quite regularly. After a woman has a child, which she has carried in her body for 9 months, the bond with that child can be so strong that it interrupts or blocks other drives, including the sex urge. Additionally, as the child grows, the opportunities for 'private ' time diminish. Thirdly, many women do not get back into their former attractive physical shape promptly, or at all, in some cases. In this case the woman feels less attractive, dresses sloppily, and her man is less motivated to make love. The other more obvious reason is that the couple haven't tried to keep it exciting, so who wants to do the same old thing over and over.If the man is now being successful in his working world, he doesn't bounce thru the door every night with that look in his eye, so she doesn't dress to excite. After his late nite at the office, his late dinner and two martinis, he just wants to sleep .
lol in this case it's the woman wanting it and not getting it :(

What y'all need to do is channel that sexual energy into something productive. For example I've just managed to build my 215th model airplane!

way out in left field
Now I'm not going to go searching for data to back this up, but on the TLC channel there was this week long program on human sexuality a few years ago. On that program it was discussed that one can lose the desire to have sex if they are not getting it regularly. As someone mentioned earlier this can happen easier for those of us who are getting on in years (30 +) but doesn't happen or rarely happens to people under 30 and it rarely happens to men under 20 (hell, a warm breeze blows and a male teen gets a woody! lol).

Sex is like any physical activity: the more sexercise you get, the more you want, the less you get, the more you want to go to Home Depot hehehe

As for women, IME, they lose their sex drive the second month of getting into a relationship, usually about 4 days after you tell them the L word. You want a sure fire way of ruining your sex life? MARRY your girlfriend! DOH
