Remember when the CNE was the Shiznet ?

I miss the Alpine ride, the staduim ,flyer, jumbo jet ,Carlsberg building with the free honted house in the back that was better then the ticketed ones , A guy yelling Doggy dooggy oh ever nice Doggy from the mid way games , CNE lottery tickes from a booth with a car you will never win on the top. A ton of free samples in the food building. A better living centre that actually had things for better living ,Loyola's.

Have not been to the ex for some years, but also remember running around in the food building picking up all the free samples. Last time there the building was just full of vendors.

I still go every year and was there a couple of Saturdays ago when David Wilcox was playing at the bandshell.

I miss the Arts and Crafts building when it actually had arts and crafts in it and not Midevil Fair.

Also miss the Carlsberg building that always used to have a little car show and the haunted house.

Miss the National Film Board movies that used to play in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

One thing I don't miss are the guys selling encyclopedias in the Better Living Centre.

The routine when I was little was:
-Take the Lawrence bus to Dufferin
-Get on a PACKED Dufferin bus and take it to the Dufferin gate
-Go to the Arts and Crafts building... watch them make candles among other things
-Go to the Carlsberg building, look at cars, go through haunted house.
-Come out and sit on one of the benches that overlook the lake and watch the air show while eating the lunch my mom packed for us
-go to the Better Living Centre
-Get some Tiny Tom Donuts at the Food Building
-Go to Ontario Place to the free Kiddy Land (or whatever it was called)... which is now closed and used as a parking lot... dammit... they closed it the first year we took our kids.
-walk back to Dufferin Gate, get on a PACKED bus and go home.

Is tiny tom donuts still around?
Last time I went 2 years ago I went to the food building, which was a disappointment until I saw a tiny tim donut girl walking around giving out free samples. Woohoo, except they cut the miniscule donuts in half, wtf?

The Hell Drivers were my favourite memory of the Ex! :p

I also liked the Alpine Way, bumper cars, the Flyer, the Ferris Wheel and the Roundup.
There was plenty of cool free things to do - getting new car brochures at the Automotive Building, going up the Bulova clock tower, watching the Guess Your Weight or getting free samples in the Food Building.

I haven't been there in 35 years except to a few concerts, I just know things aren't as good as when you're a kid.

The Big Smoke
-getting pop out of containers that look like milk cartons at the food building
-the carnies (you know the ones who travelled with the rides)
-the log ride
-concerts at CNE Stadium
-Tiny Tom before introducing chocolate powder and apple flavours
-The Rotor
-the Carlsberg Building

What I miss most is getting into the CNE and Ontario Place with your $4 general admission Blue Jays ticket the most.

The doggy doggy guy at one the games for teddy bear (or in this case teddy dog) prizes.

A doggy over here
A doggy over there
Here a doggy
There a doggy
Everywhere a doggy doggy

I answered before reading the other posts. How could you forget the words Robio?
