What are the reasons you got married?

Here is a list I compiled.

·Want to be free from parents.
·To have sex.
·To ease loneliness.
·To be happy.
·To be an adult.
· Because of a pregnancy.
· He or she loves me.
· To save or help someone.
· Because I want a baby.
· For money.
· Because all my friends are married.
· You've always wanted a fancy wedding.
· Out of fear that no one else will want to marry me.
· For immigration purposes.
My parents or friends kept nagging me.
He/she was the only one that seem available
I was very desperate

I truly believe there is someone for everyone.

• Want to be free from parents.- Nope- we already each lived on our own.
• To have sex. - Nope- we were having sex LONG before we got married.
• To ease loneliness.- Nope- we each had an excellent group of friends
• To be happy.- Yes and no. We were already happy, just happier together.
• To be an adult.- Nope. We were already adults
• Because of a pregnancy.- Nope- IMHO wrong reason to get married.
• He or she loves me. BINGO!
• To save or help someone. Huh???
• Because I want a baby. Yes- we did, but that wasn't a reason.
• For money. Nope. Neither of us had much back then.
• Because all my friends are married. Nope. Most of our friends were single.
• You've always wanted a fancy wedding. Nope- we actually didn't have the $$$ so we had a very small wedding
• We were in love with one another BINGO!
• A desire to share your life with another BINGO!
• Out of fear that no one else will want to marry me. Huh???
• For immigration purposes. LOL!

The problem is, we have created a world of hustle and bustle and people become guarded and suspect of new acquaintances, so we may not always recognize that person when we find them.

Mrs. CG & I somehow managed to find each other's "sole" mate.

Although I've never sold shoes for HBC (The Bay), I did used to work for a national shoe retailer and I was in fact working for them at the time we met. But Mrs. CG did not ever work in the fish industry. At the time she was working for a cotton clothing store and a cosmetics store. We often joke that we are each other's "sole" mate, in an obvious attempt at the play on the homophone "soul" vs "sole" and because of my on going relationship with the shoe business.

I no longer sell shoes "for" retailers... I now sell shoes "to" retailers.

I was 20 and my ex was 19 when our first daughter was born. By the time I was 25 I had 2 girls and a boy. In retrospect, hindsight being 20-20, we were way too young to get married and have a family.

Another one is "In love with love" but perhaps that is covered by "To ease loneliness."
